The ability to place some basic inventory items, like cooked food, as decorative items
Please can you make it so inventory items can be placed as decoration when using the building hammer.
I want to put food on the table, potions on shelves etc.
One of my favourite things in Valhiem was using glowing mushrooms for ambient lighting and decoration.

Also make it so you need to be in build mode to pick them back up again so we don't get flooded with interacts all the time.

Brentai MergedNeed to rename your title on this. People may miss it due to the error.

Cole Younger MergedCould accomplish this by adding a row to the hammer tool called "place item" and it just puts the item on the cursor like a 1x1 block, and you can choose from the list of items in your backpack like you can choose from different building materials.

Could either loop the normal placeable items into this system or just have it for non interactable items like food and cloth and ore and dust etc. -

RB MergedRight now, the only option when it comes to the objects that are already in towns/villages/ruins, is to either destroy them with an axe/pickax/dismantling, or leave them where they are. Please allow the player to move them.

eksness MergedNot Sure How Far You Have Reached In Your Game Yet, But We Do Have Glowing Mushrooms. Just Need To Make Seedlings And Plant Them Where You Could Like To Place Them For Decor.

I Kinda Really Like This Method So Far, But Placing All Items Anywhere Should Work. It Is Possible In The Game Since We Can Pick Up Placed Items Like Meat/Scraps/Torn Cloth etc. -

hypnofist MergedI was thinking the table and shelves etc should have an inventory - and whatever you place in there appears on the table/shelf.
2
e.g. the table could have a 5x3 inventory, and items would be placed on the table according to which slot they are in - then you could arrange things as you like. -

Noodle MergedI agree it irritates me to have to replace my entire hotbar with decorative items, then put everything back in place once I've decorated. I agree with Cole's suggestion but instead of having it as a menu while in "build" perhaps we could have a seperate key to "tab" to select "place" instead. Then as Cole says we could scroll through any placable items in our inventory.

Toast Admin MergedPlayers would like more decorative item options from items that already exist, such as craftable foods, gear, etc.

Zaphkielthis could be merged to the drop item suggestion, just make dropping an item reticle based.

BellaCooked foods and dried flowers i think would be especially fitting medieval themes.
And generally: More items to be made with the torn cloth (Curtains, awnings) More clutter and furniture pieces. <3

EscynturelI am absolutely obsessed with adding food as a decor option to games. Every game that lets me do it I lay out an entire feast in the kitchen. This feature would add so much enjoyment for me personally, possibly more than other features. I don't know why, I just love looking at food. It would also give me incentive to learn and make all of the different foods in the game! With how much emphasis seems to be placed on being able to make an aesthetically pleasing base, this feature makes sense. Give me this, and more food variety, and I'll spend hours at it! :D
Also... being able to place ingredients like mushrooms and herbs would make my alchemy room look so much better! -
