Legend of Zelda style climbing system where you can just climb most surfaces not just predeffined assets.

ConradAdditional suggestion: Climb surfaces without any extra gear. Extra gear should just make it easier / less taxing on stamina

hxYes! Please let me climb up surfaces, even if the stamina is shorter than the sprint stamina. Having to spec into Double Jump just to get a slight height advantage for jumping up things is a little annoying.

ChrisIt feels so weird without the climbing to be honest. When I first started the game I felt like it was supposed to be there, but I guess I just got too used to the climbing in Conan and Pal world. Climbing is perfect for games like these, and you even have the stamina bar for it! The spider perk that reduces stamina usage is straight up useless without the normal free-form climbing.

Kyle MergedNeed to be able to climb, I fell down near the death lava ground and would make it way better to recover, now I'm going to die in the shroud and have to run all the way back to my grave. KezorianAdd an item you craft like climbing claws to allow you to scale surfaces using stamina like the glider but climbing. Example is Age of Conan system.

EliasTo everyone who enjoys digging out mountains, you can still do that. There is no "meta" you can play the game the way you want. some of us wouldn't mind climbing. And to those who think it might be a way to escape the shroud, I mean it would obviously take stamina.

JulesPlease don't add climbing. When I first started, I felt it amiss and strange not to, but NOT having climbing has had me think hard on how and where to scale things! I just finished climbing to the top of Castle Pike - yes, where you aren't intended to get to - and I had a BLAST figuring it out. Shame there's nothing up there btw, it'd be great to have a hidden chest atop the castle's peak.
TL;DR climbing TAKES AWAY from the experience of the game, please don't cave to peer pressure. -

KaijuWaifuEvery single game with Conan Exiles style climbing is better for it and the overwhelming majority of players agree every time this is polled. More dynamic movement features are almost universally regarded as a plus. Hense why even PokemonWithGuns decided to add it.
If you're afraid of it breaking progression or the like due to invalidating the grappling hook, consider tying its efficiency heavily into equipment, so that it begins as an extremely inefficient way of traversal, but can naturally fold into the rest of progression all the same.
100% agree this would be an objective win for the game. -

jayclimbing would be fantastic feature to add to this game. Its one of the features I love the most from conan exiles.

NEMESISS2K5ran into a spot near Alchemist Ancient Vault and could not climb out spot. I can jump high enough but cannot get onto the level needed because the character's feet are not getting high enough. If character is two-thirds or halfway above the next leveled area they should be able to pull themselves up

CrustI just wanted to say I don't think there should be climbing everywhere off the jump, I think it would kind invalidate a lot of the way many of the POIS and locations are designed. I will say though I think in the late-game there should be climbing gloves that give you the ability to do this, just with difficulty perhaps.

VictimI'd prefer the game stay as it is in terms of terrain traversal. Lends well to its already Fable-like game design and leans more towards an action adventure/metroidvania progression style. (Grappling Hook, Glider, etc)

MightyAlnClimbing will make the game too easy.The point is to dig your way up and down things.
I have explored the entire map and max level, fallen to the bottom of death cliffs then dug my way to my loot.
Climbing will ruin this game. -

NbbClimbing may have disadvantages towards intended level exploration, but the game does feel like climbing should be a part of the world. Most people will mine out footholds to climb somewhere if they want to and have done so, and we have "climbing" somewhat already in the game, so may as well embrace it fully.

AlturisThis seems like it would completely throw away existing designs and puzzles. My vote is no on this unless they wanted to invest in redoing most of the entire game. Maybe add a way to craft climbable wall pieces so you can decide where you want to climb in the open world.

Holiday FartcruiseI could do with or without climbing but they should add a mantle of some sort so you dont have to run all the way around some areas just because you cant jump 1 inch higher

Miqo The MiqoHmmm while i do agree that the climbing in games like conan and such are actually incredibly intuitive and actually one of my favorite features of traversal in conan... idk i've gotten to max level and have explored a very very large portion of the map. at first i 100% agreed that it needed climbing because i felt limited because i was just so used to it. however i can 100% promise that climbing would completely invalidate their entire design. i do see what people mean with making it end game, like... suuuuper end game though if you ask me. bc you can cheese climbing in so many ways. we all know it. oh yeah? it costs stamina? find that ONE little foothold in the voxels right before you run out and stand on it to regen. then climb more and repeat. the whole puzzles of the spires would be completely ruined for most because we are gamers. it's what we do. we take the best path. i think it would be cool but i also don't think it needs or should have it. <3

AyI'd rather not. This would require a revamp of player interaction with environment. Digging/Mining for example. They developed this game for a specific interaction type. Accept it.

Red Fox100% yes! In a game with unscalable cliffs there needs to be climbing. Either as a standard feature, or in the traits menu. There also needs to be full climbing gear. So ropes and the ability to absail.

DustAdd climbing but make the speed and stamina depend on the surface. Add equipment and upgrades to gradually improve climbing as the player progresses.
Players who want to mine out footholds can still do so. -

RB MergedMost open world games like this now let the player automatically grab onto ledges when they jump to to them to pull themselves up. This feels like a standard feature that's missing from this game.

AlphabetHunterPlease don't. You can climb in this game, all you need is a pickaxe. Climbing would only be acceptable with we had a tool just for that, maybe climbing gear, with a very interesting gameplay element to it (I'm thinking of a jusant-lite mechanic). Climbing just like BotW/TotK is not needed in this game, and it's already a bit overused. But honestly, it's not needed. The whole game world is made so that you can traverse it just fine with the normal single jump, grappling hook, and glider.

JavaaI'd love to climb rough surfaces but smooth ones should be off-limit. Hooks would still be useful then because they are fun so we need to keep them.

janekburn MergedSomeone requesting u add climbing surfaces but if u could do that they be no need to do the tower puzzles, the mechanics of the game allow u to do plenty of work arounds with some effort and that is great fun but doing the Zelda climbing walls and stuff is a bad idea ruin the game imo

J. BrooksIn the name of balance, I would like to suggest way to have free climb and still have use for the paths that have already been set up.
Make free climbing cost more, while climbing on the fences you have preset provide an increased climbing speed and reduced stamina usage. This can also then be offset by things like climbing trinkets that give boosts for climbing. -

BigBobsBeansYeah it 1000% needs climbing, to help get out of sticky situations for one. for people saying it would trivialize puzzles that's a dumb argument seeing as you can jump around a good few of them anyway on the leges around the rooms and can break through walls and doors. Needs mantling also. People against climbing are turnip brains

wayne MergedThere are some inconveniences when climbing and prospecting during outdoor adventures. It is hoped that lighting, eagle, hooks, anchor points, etc. can be set outside the construction area (especially requiring lighting). This will make the game more interesting.

NhissoYou have to be a serious p.o.s. to tell other gamers they shouldn't have an option for climbing because you dont want to use it. Try having some self control and not using it if it is part of the game. LMAO. What kind of pathetic adults are you?
Lastly, to the hilarious folk saying lack of climbing made them think: You didnt think hard or critically enough; or you would have figured out that you can still do what you want while the rest of us climb. Reminds me of people who blatantly lie that MMOs with limited 5 to 10 skill hotbars make you think and strategize LOL. -

JusticeDIf you're worried about people progressing too quickly then I suggest adding a icepick type of item or even that you must be wielding that holds you in place and allows you to climb with stamina reduction ofc. Also this game needs to be optimised more so your feet find a solid ground, maybe hiking boots to add traction when adventuring? If not then definitely fix where your character can and cannot find traction as at the moment it's horrendous and makes me want to play something else, like shadow of mordor which does it better.

RetroI dislike this idea. We have enough games with breath of the wild climbing, I like that I actually have to think about where I'm going and how to get to my objective instead of just climbing over things. I like that climbing is limited to only platforming challenges.

AtlasNah. Adding the ability to climb literally anything and everything would completely ruin just about all of their current puzzles, the need for the Pike Key to unlock the doors in that area, and enable the ability to skip a LOT of content. Good in some games. Would ruin a lot of the this game.

CourtJesterCowboyI feel Shadow of The Colossus climbing would fit a bit better, since they already have designated climbing moments, that they could just increase to more climbing locations through foliage and whatnot, then also add edge grabbing to "close to 90 degrees" spots... The full "climb anything anywhere" climbing isn't all too realistic and also would slightly take from the voxel destruction they have going on. Just a thought.

Pengman19Please do not add climbing to the game. Part of the charm, difficulty, and WHY this game is good is the need to tunnel (or create steps) up the side of hills/mountains with your pickaxe. Being able to climb up a mountain side like you're Alex Honnold would be a very bad idea.
