Building / Build Camera Mode
It would be nice to have an Option to detach the Camera from the Player when you are in the Building Mode (Optionally), so that you can build a lot easier in Height or Depth.

Bradley MergedImplement a build mode camera system like No Man's Sky that would remove all the awkwardness of trying to get your character on the exact pixel to place a structure correctly.

Zammis MergedYes, build mode needs a free camera, separate from the character and fixed angle. Lining up the other side of the wall with the foundation or other snap point is sometimes difficult, since you can't see it.

Voidseeker MergedI've noticed significant difficulty building while looking over my characters left shoulder, the camera seems to be off centered on the right side so my body is always in the way. Can you center the camera on my character or give us camera controls for the building mode please?

JamesI came here specifically for this reason. Trying to carve a spiral staircase inside of a stone pillar and my character is in the way so often that I had to come complain about it :P Please, for the love of god add some sort of build camera!

AlexYes trying to build looking up or down makes it quite annoying, your own character gets in the way of what you're trying to look at. Needs a first-person camera option

Cole YoungerAnother solution to this without changing the camera could be to make it so there is a button to toggle your character to be semi-transparent while in hammer building mode, so that you can see what you're doing but can also still see where your avatar is so you don't walk of the edge of something while trying to place a piece someplace specific.

Tharabas MergedI strongly agree. A free camera movement, while your at your base, should really improve the building experience.

To reach higher heights you can build a scaffolding, but that feels like an incredible nuisance and takes the fun out of building larger structures for me.
I get, that this might feel more like rpg-ing the building process, but to me it's just an unnecessary time-sink that adds nothing to the game's fun.
In the end I don't want to build it but to be built. -

AaronTo me this is a more elegant solution than a flying option or even using a flying mod. I used a fly mod in Valheim and placement could still be a major pain because your character still gets in the way. I've even tried a fly cheat in Enshrouded already but the controls are terrible. Still, it helped with some roofing. Being able to have a separate camera that let's us get really granular with our construction would be amazing and something I don't think any other game has.

Rules and Measurements: Introduce measuring tools and rulers for more precise construction, helping players maintain proportions and perfect alignments in their creations.
Flight and Invisibility During Construction: Enable players to fly and become temporarily invisible during construction, similar to other building games, to facilitate environment manipulation.
Enhanced Camera Control: Allow more control over the camera, including zoom, distance adjustment, and freedom to move it freely, providing a more detailed view and easing the construction process.

StevenYea either need to be able to go first person while building or have a building mode, like if you use your Construction hammer while at the flame, you should be able to fly around and build wherever without my characters body being in the way.

GeeEspecially building / fixing roofs is a major pain point - if I could just see the roof from the outside, it would help greatly with the correct placement. I also don't think hights should be a big issue - there is scaffolding, but it's so narrow that I always end up stepping on the ladder so I use blocks instead.

CorrealianA build enabled camera that is still locked to your body but has say 30 meters range around you, so you still would need to use the scaffolding and such. This way you can be more precise in where your building as, as the others says there is camera issues when close or trying to do some builds.

CatrianaAt the very least, it would be nice to have the hammer disable the character view so my character isn't constantly blocking my view of what I am trying to build/place (can be a hotkey you toggle when hammer is wielded to show/hide the character)! Invariably, there are things I struggle to place precisely because my character is in the way. Even crouching doesn't always help.
-

MarekWhy isn't there a build camera? This should be the gold standard for all games that have a build mode. It's not hard to add a camera in UE5. Not adding one feels like lazy development. More people will want to buy the game if this is added.

Action Pants GamingI build in a lot of games and I think every game with a build mechanic needs to have a build camera in my opinion. One of the problems I've noticed with building in this game is your character is always in the way and blocks your view. making it difficult to do tight detail both with building and deleting. also trying to center a part is nearly impossible. would love to see a build camera added it will add to the longevity of the game as well giving the player more creative control. also please add a way to make circular foundations.

Peter MergedA flight mode very similar to Once Human's build mode where you are able to fly within the proximity of the flame altar.
1
There are limitation where you need the character (for e.g. Rake) so that you are able to control the elevation of the ground but with walls and roofs, it would be great to have a flight build mode where users could just click a button, and my camera can fly up to a certain height, fix up some janky roof without trying to climb up to a certain elevation and build.
So the feature requests are:
- Flight mode within flame altar (for building only)
- Copy building part (when you hover over a stone wall for example, and clicking a button will equip a building part so users can continue to build the same item side by side)
- A way to relocate the entire base (perhaps creating an item and establishing it in each corner of the base (inc. elevation) like a cube (which includes the flame altar), and having that be moved to another location. -

Devin MergedCreate a build mode that works more like No Mans Sky. Allow the character to remain stationary but the camera moves within the given area of the Flame Altar to place pieces. This would make vertical & detailed construction much easier and faster. Basically, a free-floating camera that can use the hammer. It would have a click and drag feature along X, Y, & Z axis, to create walls, pillars, Beams and floors very rapidly. Adding number markers that show you how many blocks your dragging in each direction would be a literal game changer in tracking the symmetry and size of builds. Make the numbers a feature you can turn on and off, but is only visible in build mode.

Thomas MergedSeems i may have not found it yet or the options has yet presented itself to me this early in the game.
I would i like to be able to pull away form my creations during crafting for better accuracy when placing objects in the world with a torch to see in the dark as well. ( could use the sprite concept you already have and make it your crafting companion that was lighting the way early in the game and allowed it too have a duel purpose.) -

Paul JAgreed. Right now placing objects means jiggling your character back and forth until the item to be placed/crafted falls into the exact spot you want. E.g. lining up additional wall segments. It's really annoying. Especially when you're doing 1-block placements to fill in holes in ruins you're trying to restore. Yes there's the Q+mousewheel scroll but it isn't always applicable.
1
Being able to detach the camera from the player character and then adjust where it is would be great. That way you could e.g. not have to stand at the edge of a cliff just to place walls, or find that your character model is blocking your view from placing something that's near your character. -

When holding blocks, or entering build mode with the Hammer, the camera lerp (for a smooth transition) it's position to be a few meters up and back behind the character to help prevent the character model from interfering with looking at what you are building. -

Sieni''Once Human'' has option to enter fly-mode while building base, hopefully we get same to Enshrouded. Other games I played (Fallout 4 and Valheim), I used console commands to enter noclip-mode to help building large/tall structures etc. Please add one or the other option to this game, thank you!
-

Rick MergedWhen entering building mode, the camera should be disconnected from the character and allow to move in the X, Y, and Z axis. With the current version of this game, the character model can obstruct the view of the placement of the building object. In tight areas, sometimes it is impossible to place a building object because the character cannot move. NPC's animations and movement should be disabled when building mode is entered because the NPC's get in the way when placing building objects.

FrraksurredI honestly thought this would have a lot more votes. Those of us who have spent hundreds of hours building in this game know the pain and frustration it can be, especially after using systems like the one in NMS. It is easily my biggest complaint, and potentially the greatest QoL addition they could make imo.

Thalia MergedI think the building mode itself is very good. I also find it understandable that there is no building mode where you can basically exit the character and build from a bird's-eye view, but that the character itself builds. However, I would wish for the option to fly, especially to fly high. At least in your base at the Flame Altar. I built a castle on a mountain, and it’s very difficult to build downward. I’ve fallen down a thousand times and have no desire to expand the mountain below. It would be helpful if you could at least fly to build.
