Upgrade or replace Building material
Tickets merged and edited by Toast:
It would be nice to be able to convert existing blocks into another block of a different type, for example replacing wood with stone, without needing to manually dig out each block and replace them. It would just refund the cost of the original block and swap them out.

Orphicblue MergedWould love to see the option to convert materials (ie. wood to stone, dirt to wood, etc) added to the game in build mode, with shape tools similar to what are available now for building. Perhaps it could refund the cost of the original material and cost the amount of the new material. In current state, it is cumbersome and tricky to dig out an area and replace it with another material, so this feature would be a great quality of life improvement for us detail-oriented builders out there.

Xale Mergedi think it would be cool to see the items that are in range of the flame alter such as ( doors, windows, crafting stations, and anything peaceable of that nature) to show up in the construction menu somehow. i know its already a tad cluttered but having to exit that menu while building and going back and forth can be a little tedious.

herr.vorragend Mergedwould be great to get an option to replace overlapping shapes with the new building material selected.

would make for a much improved flow of building. -

Vescrit MergedAt the very least I think being able to convert simpler walls back into materials would be great. So if you remove 1000 blocks of Rough Stone, you could use those materials for Weathered Stone Blocks. Or some way to upgrade like material blocks

CrannberriezTotally agree, being able to upgrade walls and such would be handy after unlocking the better looking stuff!

Zomec MergedSo when you decide to change the material your base is built out of you can just replace the item with a different block type. E.g. Wood for Stone

Leroy MergedCurrently if you start building a large structure in game, then later unlock better looking blocks its quite the pain in the butt to replace old blocks in large quantity's. A replace feature would really come in handy.

Maybe upgrade the construction hammer to next level or a new tool. -

Kokosek MergedI would like to see block substitution in the game. In the early phase of the game, we build with the materials we have, but over time we unlock nicer blocks. My problem is that I don't want to rebuild my buildings just to replace the walls or floors. I would prefer to choose a different raw material and replace its wall with another raw material.

Knochenjo MergedHi there would be cool if you implement the feature of "upgrade walls" i mean i need every time to destroy the walls and build it again but with other material would be cool to have the option to upgrade the walls that are alredy there greetings

K0D3Y MergedWhen building, there should be an option to auto replace wall/floor/door materials with other materials. For example, if I start my base with simple wood materials and eventually unlock a better material to build with, there should be an option to auto replace the old, basic material with the newer, nicer stuff. Currently the only option is to delete and then fully rebuild from scratch the old structure.

JayAn "upgrade to" or replace existing blocks would be beneficial. I've had to rebuild my base twice now due to discovering better looking material.

Also, we should be able to replace or remove the single 1x1 blocks like we do with other sized building blocks. I currently have to break the 1x1 blocks I used when I replace them. -

Varonimyes, please. I am holding back building big structures early game because I don't want to delete everything later in order to replace/upgrade it.

BrandonI really really need this.

I built a massive early game base with "rough stone". Now I realized there's much nicer looking blocks, but I can't go and individually replace thousands of blocks. -

ZeddFaeel Mergedwhould love that. I buid a wooden house and now I don't like the look but I also don't whant to erase and rebuild every singel block/wall/ect.

Roganwarrior MergedI building system is one of the best I have seen, that said it needs work. Please allow us to place pieces even if it hits the scaffold or my body. Its pretty frustrating running around in circle trying to get the correct place, so times placing a piece over a non-building material may be the only option to place a piece correctly. Great job team!!!

Nikolas Morey MergedIt basically lets you delete or replace by block type, but only by the rule of adjacency. For example, if you have a building with four corners made of stone pillars and wood walls between, you would only delete/replace a whole section of wood between the pillars. if you then choose to connect the wood walls where one of the stone pillars was, you would be deleting/replacing both walls and left with three pillars and two walls.

Kitiri MergedI’ve also been wishing for that ability—to in place “upgrade” a material, without having to deconstruct/reconstruct

Mayson MergedI would say keep the same system they have. But when you want to replace a wall, bring out the hammer, place the new wall where the old one was and once you click it would replace the old wall. Once you place the wall in the same location as the pre-existing one you receive your old building items.

DreamsBeing able to upgrade/change existing building blocks would go a long way. Especially transitioning from mid to late game when you start getting a lot of the materials, after making a fully functional rough stone base I'd like to paint over it with a cleaner stone without having to delete/add every building piece. It almost makes sense to just start an entire new building. Either placing the same piece over top of the existing one to upgrade, or simply a function with the hammer that replaces existing blocks with a new type consuming the new materials and not refunding the old.

ChristianI'll say, while I love the voxel building in this game, it's done so well, it is a bit of a pain after having just built a giant base that looks pretty cool, and then 15min later you get the new fancy stone blocks and now either have to build a new base, or replace all of the individually placed blocks, some of which are too high up and unreachable unless a wall is taken down first.

GreenEyesThis would be amazing! I spend a lot of time deleting and re deleting pieces to remove the "extra" bits from the previous build material.
