Increase stack sizes
We have some stuff like stone that stacks to 1000, wood only stacks to 250, metal scraps and most other items stack to 50 or less.
Would be super nice (for materials anyways) to double the stack size from current. so many bones and cloth and scraps or food that only stack to 50 (or less) for some reason and clutter up my storage.

Rafael MergedAt least 1000 for bigger stacks, 300 for rarer ones

MaFaOr, even better, leave it to create a stack of up to 10,000 units.

JensAbout the stack size, probably everyone has his ideal stack size number. (e.g. I want to have unlimited stack size) So ideally this could be configured via settings.

AvatarEvery game eventually changes this for better quality of life, realism be damned. Let us have enormous stacks, one slot per item type. Don't negotiate with us on this one, please. Terraria famously changed their stacks to 9999 for everything. Do something similar here. Please.

Chrisyeah the stack size definitely needs to be adjusted i highly dislike needing 50 stash box for items especially knowing this is early access and there is already a ton of materials and there are bound to be more added as they add more areas and stuff into the game.

JudaspriesterYes and no. I agree with you that the stack sizes need to be balanced, since some stuff like rags clutters your chests kinda fast. But for other stuff like arrows (500) or wood (250) I don't think we need to double the stack size as well.

I mean we already got no weight that stops us from picking up endless stuff, so there is "only" the slots that forces us players to think about what (and how much in terms of stacks) to pick up and carry around. Increase everything to 9999 like some suggested here, would mean to give a balancing tool out of hand. E.g. why should you think about how many bandages/health pots you need on your journey? Just grab everything that's there right now. While with the current system, it's a thing to think about if you want to take 2 or 3 stacks of healing stuff with you. -

DastornBy the time I reached endgame I had so many different stacks of materials it became a logistics NIGHTMARE. I was the only one in my game who was organizing storage (or so it seemed). Increasing stack sizes would go a long way to alleviate this issue.

Jon MergedIt would be really nice to have a larger stack count for items. Pots are currently 5, Food is currently 20 and other materials are set to 50 or 100 and then you have building materials set to 5k. Having a set number for all items at 50/100 would be more ideal.

RunenOn person stack size makes sense. However I think having the stack size be larger when placing into a cheat. Maybe the stack size increase with the cheat size. For example: a tiny chest would be just like a player 250 wood per stack but it could double in size for every level of chest so a medium chest would hold 1000 wood per slot.

Cassiopeia_71Stack size is definitively something to consider. It doesn't make sense to me, why you can only stack 20 of some things and 5000 of others. That should be all the same and maybe even more than 5000. The amount of room I waste on storage boxes is awful.
1
And it is soooo annoying to go though all those boxes to find anything, even if you try to sort things. So a kind of labeling system would be nice as well.
I spent more time sorting materials than actually exploring the world, which is a bit of a turn off... -

TheGrey08Agreed, especially with some of the smaller stacks. Just moving each stack size up a "tier" would be a nice change. IE: things that stack to 20 become 50, 50 becomes 100, 100 becomes 250, 250 becomes 1k, 1k becomes 5k. Something along those lines.

YinanFrankly, I would just streamline the stack size for everything to be 1000 or so... there is really no reason why some things only stack to 50, others to 250 and then again others to 1000 and then again others only to 20 and all of that...
1
I really don't see any good reason for it, as it is all just arbitrary so it should just all be the same stack size. 1 for things that can't stack, and then 1000 or so for everything else. -

MimeD&D has a bag of holding. Enshrouded has “magic” storage boxes. Only makes sense to be able to have a bigger storage “magically”

CakeThere is already a backpack transition in the game, other than e.g. Minecraft. What really sucks is the inability to save where you are. Or having a placeable (one time?) return beacon. I think that would solve this problem at least partially

ABookPersonThe only problem I have are the items that only stack to 20. Please increase them to 50.

Izzyi never play a survival game and go "oh making 50+ chests and sorting hundreds of low count stacks is fun"

make LARGE stack sizes please, low stack sizing is just a time sink and annoyance, ty ty ty -

MarkI agree that some stack sizes are just too small/don't make sense. I can put 250 logs in a stack in my backpack, but only 50 salt? I try not to think too hard about some of this (because... 250 logs, in my backpack), but stack sizes are definitely off for many items.
1
There are also too many different stack sizes. Why 5 or 20 or 50 or 100 or 250 or 5000? Pick three stack sizes and standardize all items. -

S.This is indeed annoying, when you can only have 20 in some stacks, 50 in others, hundreds in still others. So much clutter. Please make all stack sizes 500 or another large number.

kampsonStacks should be set to 1000 or endless. Most i had to run to all of my chests in a row to place my inventory.
It is easier for us to have 1 big chest (56) for plants and not to have 4 chests because mushrooms only have 20 stacks. -

VoondabahEven if it's just for the smaller ones like food... I'm all for the "storage is part of the challenge" aspect in survivals but, 20 stacks for corn, honey and all, when we should be hording for meals, etc...? I get that the storage in the tools is to be taken advantage of (stashing all my wood and scraps/bones) but there should be a bit more forgiveness, IMO.
All low mat.s (vegetables/bone meal/charcoal) should be 125/250 at least and then go up from there. Potions, etc. are fine. But basic tier 1 mat.s like wood, could go up to 1k easily as it gets used by everything and we would still have problems with storage.. Stacks should be better ratio based on resource/qty required overall + the effort required to get them/availability. -

RangerI can stack and carry how much stone but only stack 100 twigs?

TLC_ULTRAInstead of straight doubling, seems it would make more sense to pick one of 3 strategies.
2
1. allow players to configure this themselves (Probably a bit more dev time, but if done right (separate settings file or tab), not something that people can reasonably complain about, while other options will inevitably annoy someone.
2. Massive standardized stacks, at LEAST within usage categories. Something like 1k across the board, or maybe 1k for most items and 100k for stuff as common as dirt (sand, stone, limestone, etcetera).
3. Semi-infinite stacks. Assuming the code is based on something C related, the integer wraparound point would make sense. -

KavaniiaI'm here for this. Seconding the idea of increasing stack sizes in chests vs. backpack (if it's not a logistics nightmare to code, anyways!) would save SO much trouble. I feel the amount of things in stack sizes I can carry in my bag is fair and balanced, but when I'm trying to organize my base the potion stack sizes alone rapidly become a nightmare.
1
I also second the standardizing/adjusting stack sizes for raw materials. Why 250 wood but only 100 twigs? Because we can make cheap arrows out of twigs? Things like cloth, hides, and salt definitely ought to stack higher, we use them in bulk or not at all. Also: RAW foods should stack higher!
Another tangential thought of mine is the idea of handing us the capability to create specialized storage boxes. If I have 20+ stacks of elixirs I don't use because I'm an obsessive pack rat & they stack to 5, having a "potion storage" that ONLY holds potions but has double the number of slots to a normal chest? That would make life easier. -

JeffLike many others, an increase would be good. I would like to see items that you consume be at least 100, with building items be 10000 and most other items like arrows and crafting items be 500. 5 and 20 stacks are just too small.

GregSome stack sizes seem larger with the latest patch but one of the biggest box hogs is Cloth scraps, those really need an increase in stack size. Honestly anything that stacks at 50 or less could use an increase in stack size except for maybe potions, 20 is reasonable there, though 50 would be better. The stack size of 5 on some potion type items is crazy small. Explosives is another one I would like to see go beyond 20.
Charcoal, Ore, Ignots, Wood Acid, Animal Hide/Fur, Cloth scraps, salt, and critter parts are the biggest issue for stack size outside of consumables.
Please make all components 250 to 500 for stack and consumables stack size 50. -

JonathanHonestly some of the stacks are fine, but I’m surprised this doesn’t have more support though because how can I stack 5000 stone in one slot but only 5 of some items in a slot. Even if you could make some high lvl requirements, quests, materials etc that locked behind a storage enhancement tree to gain ability to store more in one stack. But it needs better balance because it doesn’t really make sense that I can store a castles worth of stone in one slot but only 5 shroud in one spot

JoshIn this area, one of the items that is frustrating to me is being able to take 100 seedlings to plant per stack, but can only have 20 purple berries or mushrooms per stack...to me, it should be the reverse if any difference at all.

BorkWhy do game devs always do this? stacking to 20 is ridiculous! When the game is modded you know stack mod will be one of the first
