Mining beam Spell
The problem is magic based builds are lacking when it comes to mining ore. This is due to the fact Endurance isn't a stat that is invested into when playing a mage.
A solution and the idea I had was having say an infinite spell that that you can equip that is essentially a mining beam. An alternative to a pickaxe.
I saw the "mining magic" suggestion but felt my idea would have a different functionality and/or purpose. Therefore I am making a separate suggestion. This could potentially fit under the "Utility/Defense based spell types" suggestion. My idea wasn't explicitly listed therefore a separate suggestion. If this needs to be merged I leave it to your discretion as to what to merge it with.

PaulJSounds interesting. You could use the beam for cutting down trees as well, etc. Though rather than an actual beam it will probably be a target reticle you aim and then hold down the hotkey until you run out of mana.
Skills that affect mining damage could increase the strength of the beam as well, so those skills will remain relevant for players using this rather than actual mining tools.
A related idea would be equipment mods (like gems) that increase the strength of mining, so you could theoretically wear a full set of mining gear (lol) and be able to do things like chop trees with a single click. It might sound funny, but having more playstyles is always a good thing (it just happens that this playstyle is geared towards mining efficiency). -

CashmerekissSomething like the terrain manipulator in No Man's Sky, but as a staff spell with mana drain. Staff level would increase the amount mined similarly to better pickaxes + possible skills in magic-related trees.

LucaI play the game now for 15 hours and this is what i want mining for mages is horrible and i didnt enjoy at all... hope the spell is coming!!!
