Make doors individually lockable vs NPCs
It should be possible to prevent town NPCs from opening certain doors, for example, boundary doors/gates, door to areas you dont want them (cattle sheds for eg).
I would suggest a toggle option on each door to lock them against NPCs.

PaulJ+1. Right now NPCs can't use secret doors, so I've been using those as a temporary stopgap to prevent them from leaving my base. This should definitely not be the desired solution though, because it means you'll never be able to place secret doors that you WANT NPCs to use.
As op suggests, each door should have a locking toggle. I mean, the feature literally already exists in code - that's how NPCs can't use secret doors. All it needs now is a tweak to apply the toggle to all doors, and to expose the toggle to the player so they can change it on/off. The game also already has a toggle graphic e.g. place object snap to grid, toggle on/off. They could simply add this graphic to the door when you get close to it. Toggle on = NPCs can use the door, toggle off = NPCs can't use the door. -

ZaschekOptionally allow specific NPCs to use certain doors. i.e. Only the Carpenter is allowed in his workshop, and the rest of the village has to go have their party somewhere else.
I like to allow the NPCs the freedom to roam for a sense of a lived-in world, but I'd prefer it if they couldn't roam into my bedroom...
