NPC Caravanner to move items from one base to another
Have an NPC that you can use to move mass materials from one base to another at the storage box level. Should have the ability to 'craft' a shipping/receiving zone within base, based on size would determine what level box or boxes could be sent. This NPC could also be the hero's acting teamster and be the individual who would allow for crafting of specific harness/bridle to have an extended group of tamed animals be used as mounts.

ThaumielI really like this idea and I came here to make a similar post, but I feel that there should be a caveat for this to help balance it out. My idea was that with a major proper road system across the map that any bases that are within proximity or are connected to the main roads allow for the Caravans to travel. This could also open the door to creating proper roads in the world and connecting to them with the altars. It would only make sense that a caravan should only be able to travel by roads that are traversable. With roving bands of scavengers across the lands and the future potential of Base raids, I think the added idea of needing to protect or bolster your Caravan would create an extra layer of immersion and interaction. I believe the Caravan itself should have an interactable crafting station that is a caravan itself as well as a stable for the mounts as a crafting station. This would also add to the level of immersion and functionally combine the related NPCs services.

MopToddel Mergedgive me an NPC / villager, that you can send between bases, and take things from one chest and put in in another! (or multiple)
They can't go through the shroud and travel only on roads. the path finding may be a little difficult when the bases are far apart, maybe you have to give them "checkpoints" or something?
(or if they go through the shroud because there is no other path, they can be ambushed and you need to find and repair the cart?)
This would be especially helpful, when we get NPCs that can do tasks like mining, sowing / harvesting, tree felling. And they could be passively moving your resources if you want to move a base somewhere else, so you don't have to grab all items by hand, shove it in your inventory and teleport back and forth chest by chest.
While on the road (outside altar range) , the cart's inventory can't be accessed, so it can't be abused while out and about. -

BillyI like this idea, I was gonna suggest either that or you have the ability to move chests yourself in a wagon pulled by some yak's you tame. And if its the NPC moving items, they can be attacked from roaming enemies so you'll have to protect them, like moving items at day time would be faster but more dangerous (more noticeable) versus at night time, hard to see for enemies and for the mover himself. So it would take longer, but safer
