Looted chests remain empty forever
Looted chests should remain empty and open. Finding a chest should be something special, which is not the case if it keeps filling up again and again.
In addition, chests that were buried should not be reburied, but should remain on the surface.

MrsFrankiii MergedTreasure chests should be something special and contain special items. If the chests continue to contain loot after a while, they are no longer special. Once the chests have been looted, they should remain empty and, ideally, open so that you can see immediately that you have already looted them.
Chests that were buried should not be buried again. -

PaulJYeah they really need to fix loot/drops. They increased the timer for some ungodly reason, so now we can still re-loot chests indefinitely like before, you just have to wait longer between attempts. On the other hand, they barely increased the gear crafting recipes we get so getting your gear that way is still pretty much a no-go. Every major update I always re-roll a new world and new character, so I've definitely been paying attention. All the way from the start of a new game to Pikemead's Reach, what one could argue is early midgame, you have maybe a handful of melee weapons, and that's the best case. All the others have fewer recipes.
This is a crafting game. We should be finding interesting recipe mods and rare materials, not straight up loot finished gear from chests. I'll go play an ARPG looter if I want that kind of experience. Terraria has no character levels but gives TONS of different gear; that's the amount of crafting recipes we need. -

Then, the sarkophagus at the end of a hollow hall or a gem 'induced' golden chest should then always contain legendary items. There is nothing more disappointing if you finish your Hollow Hall and loot a normal item out of a golden chest or something rare only from the sarkophagus.
