Spell selection via numbers on keyboard

Spell selection should be done via the numbers slot. Why can't Q toggle activate the staff and then you get a new hotbar (a third one if you like) that shows all the slotted spells. That way you can actually become a battlemage/wizard that can easily switch between spells in the heat of battle.

Now you only get one go from the distance and then it's back to wand while you run because no way are you scrolling for spells mid-combat. It would make the staff use WAY more snappier and actually allow magic users to stay engaged in combat.
