Quest update for all group members

I haven't seen this being talked about anywhere but when me and my group member do quests where you have to collect things for example often times only one of us gets it while the other one has to wait and return so their quest updates too. I understand if only one person gets it if the other one isn't in the vicinity but other than that it's just really tedious. It also happened with the missing daughter of a vilager(?) you have to find, he could talk to her and finish the quest while to me she kept repeating that her daughter was missing and there was nothing I could do to change that in particular.
