Very End game way of extending only parts of our base areas

Can we get a new place-able item that can extend a base area in one direction, or by a set amount without using another alter slot.
The idea is to use only endgame materials for this as to not interrupt the progression during the campaign part of the game.
Or make this a craftable item that you only get access to use after you upgrade the flame the final time.
This still allows alters to be used as fast travel points throughout the map, but still be able to build one (or a few) mega-bases without having to commit the limited alters you have. when playing after all story elements are complete.
