Multiplayer - Individual quest lines option
Please undo Shared quests. Its horrible and ruins multiplayer experience. You get a server. and one friend logs on one day and does half the quest, another friend logs on and is like Oh okay, well I wanted to do the game but. SHARED QUESTS! thats oaky, no one else wanted to do quests anyway. Seriously who thought this concept up? its terrible. This game is so anti multiplayer its crazy. Flame altars are shared through all players, the crafting vendors only have one each (two with apprentices but thats not until later so screw all the other players until then.) Its terrible. I get the game design is for everyone to play at the same time together, and sometimes that works, but when it doesnt, its just a horrific experience. Make everything individual based and players can still PLAY together, but not get screwed over when a player progresses ahead of everyone else. Sharing everything is just a maniacal HORRIBLE idea. I dont get how any dev could look at this system and say, "yes this is good... Theres a reason no other multiplayer game in the WORLD uses this system... (cause its horrible.) But we think its great!"

revelwoodieI agree with you about the problem, but not the solution.
We have the same problem in our group game, and spend half of our time trying to figure out how to get everyone on the same quest. Theoretically, the "server progression" setting should fix that problem, but it doesn't. Even set to "server progression," a player who is behind the other players in a quest chain STILL has to do all the previous quests in the chain to get on the same page. Meanwhile, everyone else is just kinda...standing around. In a 4 hour session, we spend at least an hour doing this.
If they could figure out why this system is not working as I assume it's intended to work, and fix it, then that would solve the problem. If that's not workable, and they need to move to a new system for quest progression in a group game, what I'd like to see is just have it be purely server-based progression. Everyone on that server is on the same quest, all the time.
