Mounts
These beasts may let you ride around the land of Embervale. They are for those who want a more grounded way to explore or for those who skipped leg day.

CarrotMounts would cause you to skip content or skip the battle to get somewhere. I vote NO! :)

Astian@Carrot and your saying the ability to double jump around the map, glide, as well as grapple isn't a way lol? mounts are a relaxing way to traverse the map, if people wanna skip content or battle, let them, that's their choice of gameplay lol

MoniRogueWould love this to have a husbandry system if they do this! I think it would be very fitting with the customization level of the game for building!

KeltThis content is not big enough to need a mount, using the wing suit should be enough to get around easier. Mounts skip content, you do not need to finish the game in 90min..... I vote no.

xitoonerMounts dont skip content; people skip content (sometimes willingly), and they will be skipping it just as easily using wings. I will point out that you may want your mount to go through the portal as well... and that having mounts CAN imply to people all the complexity that Breathof the Wild had (ie can own multiple, horses have stats, different breeds to collect, etc) Personally I'd be happy with owning only one, and each region has their own unique one, so it gives you another reason to explore. If I had one to ride, I would use it.

zireai like mounts but i don't think every game needs it especially when you have fast travel but im also not against it

AstalphI have to say, "Nay" to mounts. Mounts shrink the game world, terribly, especially when the entirety of the gameplay takes place in that world, and it's not just a thorough fare on the way to the content. They drastically shorten travel time, making the world feel much smaller than it is, and they trivialize dangers, such as the enemies dotted around the landscape.

Bluei played 7 hours of this and most was spent running, having mounts to gather recourses travel the map and getting to objectives isnt skipping content its a huge qol feature that should be added

Michael o. MergedBasically, big beautiful open world, but annoying to travel on foot, eventually it'll all be ignored for fast travel, easy fix, add mounts to allow us to see the world and stop to do stuff, or my preferred, better agility, add more stuff for you to grapple, maybe tree branches or stone outcroppings so they don't feel forced, and buff the glider so you can control it a bit better.

AzissThe biggest reason why I feel this should be a no is simply because it severely lessens the shroud mechanic of this game. If you can ride a mount and ride faster than you can walk then you will be able to get through the shroud faster than intended with no risk. The shroud limits your time in that zone. It also strips the game of the danger of traveling around the map. I think they should have more fast travel points tied to the locations you visited than just your flame altars. The glider allows you to get to most areas faster as it is. The glider also can get into the shroud fast but you can't get out of the shroud as fast as you got in creating that danger for you.
37
If they did add mounts then the game world should be increased in size to accommodate. Or if they added mounts then they could limit them by not allowing them to traverse the shroud due to the shroud hurting them or you would have to find a specific mount that is unaffected by the shroud because it has mutated etc. -
26 Jan, '24
NymherisWould be nice with a quest a bit into the game that upon completion makes it possible to locate a horse (or etc.) with the ability to create a saddlebag through the hunter or farmer etc. . increase storage but the mount speed vary based on how loaded it is when using saddlebags. Fully loaded means only trotting etc.

ConradAlongside everything the game already has, when climbing is added to the mix, mounts would be pointless. Maybe at the very end game a mount would be good, but neither for early or mid game. Game is too enjoyable to skip all of it with a super fast mount

27 Jan, '24
SeethingIf mounts maybe add mounted combat too and mounted enemies

anonAdd combat pets/summons that follow you and if your pet/summon is awesome enough you can ride it until your stamina runs out...

BlueIt takes almost 20 minutes of running to get from one edge of the map to the other if not more, maybe a little less with fast travel. The map is still not even fully released to us yet. Mounts to me are crucial to the game, I know some ppls arguments are well you’ll miss content. I promise you we won’t if someone wants to fight a npc they’ll fight me or run with or without a magical beast

AndreiFor everybody that says mounts is a bad idea.
26
We want mounts for the mid/end game!!! Nobody wants to buy a game to skip it. And if u don't wanna use a mount, just don't. The game is big, and it might get even bigger. I wanna travel from point A-B without losing stamina. Without the constant tired thing, and amount will resolve that. Not to mention that if u make dog/wolf/cat mounts, we get big cuddly pets at the same time. Which is a WIN-WIN scenario if u ask me =)). -
27 Jan, '24
DaedeliseI'm not against the mount idea either. There's too much to do in the beginning with exploring that i don't feel i need it. The wingsuit and fast travel does really well for traveling, but i like the thought of an endgame mount that's account bound and can be used on future characters, especially if the map is going to be static.

DubhlainnWhile I like the idea of mounts generally speaking, I feel like it would remove some of the significance of the glider and other movement abilities in the game. For those reasons, I'd vote no on this.

TheRealHechtoidI think the idea of adding mounts is a good one so long and you make fast travel use a fairly rare resource. Getting around the world right now is super easy to do with the fast travel and that can lead to players missing out on some of the exploration. Mounts would aid in exploration and having fast travel cost something would make the player have to think about when they fast travel.

HiveJayHave a mount similar to elden ring were you can summon them but maybe have them unsummon automatically when you touch the shrouded area (could be a flame/lava mount to go with the theme of flame born)

28 Jan, '24
NostekExcuses for putting on mounts with 'skip game content' and it's not true. There is the higher-level Veil that doesn't allow you to progress without being equipped, and besides, I have managed to advance to places I shouldn't be thanks to the wings. In other words, whoever wants to skip the content (if they can), it's their decision. But I have felt the need to have a mount.

this world is made for riding with a roach -
28 Jan, '24
NikotheslothkingFor everyone saying "it will shrink the world." This is a non argument. It would simply require adding enemies that can deal with mounts (there are already enemies that are faster than the players run speed) at the moment you can place flame alters anywhere on the map and make fast travel to every point of the map possible. Right now It takes me less than 10 seconds to get to a tin mine on my world

JessyNope, this doesn't fit the games vibe.

Metodi MinchevAfter playing a while I don't think it's necessary. Looking at how many towers you can fast travel to and altars you can spread on the map. And last but not least - the worlds verticality makes mounts very situational! Besides - I really like the hook and glider and I think the present traversal system is awesome!
7 -
29 Jan, '24
Shady RHorses would be great. Introduce a Husbandry system for breeding animals while you are at it. Horses could be mobile storage and have much higher stamina than the player. Just like in real life.
12
If people are worried about traversal being too fast, don't allow mounts to enter the shroud. Easy enough.
I just want more life in the game! -
29 Jan, '24
cuthugasFor those of us who like mounts/breeding/pets/etc. it isn't about traversing the map. I prefer survival games that allow players to play the way they choose. Having mounts is more of an aesthetic, and an interesting mechanic that allows the player to focus on a different aspect of the game. Some players just enjoy breeding and raising the animals. I understand this game is a bit more curated than other survival games, but the fact is, games with mounts and pets are just more fun and provide another way to play the game.

Please add tames/mounts. -

AzgedaNormally I can either hard agree or hard disagree with a thread. This one is kind of mixed opinions on it, In the interest of the exploration and things to do aspect of it! I love the idea. I am really enjoying the farm/garden aspect you have here. I would love to see Mounts maybe a stable master for like farm animals (Chickens, cows, pigs etc) and any mounts you may own. It could be a whole system of quests like the other trade vendors. Where you tame something basic, then something harder with a different mechanic to unlock a tier of options etc. However, I also feel like as you upgrade your glider and the towers become available mixed with the double jump perk getting around is definitely not taxing enough to NEED mounts especially if you utilize the stamina buff provided by actually using the roads as intended. The map is also is only like 20% accessible at this point so it's a little to early to tell if it might be more of a problem later on or not. I could go either way.

QuarrelYes, it would be great to have my own horse in the game, but when we get close to the shrouded area, add game mechanic to the game that forcing players to get off the horse so that way we don't skip anything

29 Jan, '24
ChazAnother open world game has mounts that auto-follow roads, and I really liked it in that. I'd support it in Enshrouded if it was mechanically similar.

D4KiRmounts wouldn't skip content
6
the glider can access more locations then a mount (if there is no flying mount*)
there could be things to force unmount or give those near end of the game or so -
29 Jan, '24
KlayvanI'm not against it but I don't feel it necessary. I'd prefer the developers to focus on other things
5 -
29 Jan, '24
TheJumpingKlimplantI don't think this would add anything meaningful, its fun yes but exploring as is is fine imo we have plenty of tools to get around.

30 Jan, '24
spoilsportI think adding mounts is a great idea that will diversify the gameplay. For those who are concerned about the possibility of missing content due to mounts, there is an option to slow down a mount near enemies or temporarily kill a mount from enemy damage, as is done in Albion Online. This will allow you not to miss fights with enemies.
4
In addition, I created suggestion (https://enshrouded.featureupvote.com/suggestions/528562/game-development-model), for which the idea of cosmetic items for mounts, which are obtained as a reward for battle passes and various events, is great. -
30 Jan, '24
HisuinoiSo mounts don't fit in there.
5
There are possibilities and many teleport points.
Something like mounts would make more sense if there were significantly fewer teleport points and the world was a lot bigger. -
30 Jan, '24
DustI don't think the game needs mounts but I wouldn't mind if it had them. If you think mounts make the game world feel smaller you can just ignore them.
3
Mounts could also be highly susceptible to the shroud so that they die in 5 seconds and force players to traverse on foot. -
30 Jan, '24
Pestilencebro you can have so many teleport that you really dont need mount.
4 -
30 Jan, '24
Lapey LouI don't understand the argument that mounts allow people to skip gameplay... Mounts actually force you to explore more areas.
7
Depending one what kind of mount they implement, you may only be able to take certain paths. For example if you're riding some of elk-like mount they could navigate very steep terrain better than a horse would.
I think if anything causes you to miss content then it is 100% the glider.
I've missed so much of the world by launching off of cliffs to get as close as possible to the wells, whereas if I had to take a mount down there I'd actually have to navigate the area.
They could also implement basic AI to make the mounts flee when afraid, leaving you stranded. Then you would HAVE to explore the world to find it again. I think that a game as customizable as this would benefit from having mounts, but that you should have to work for it. Like taming boar in Valheim for example, it takes a lot of time and resources. -
31 Jan, '24
TrackerYes for mounts. Somewhat in between just walking and porting. Not a game breaker if we don't get it but good qol
6 -
31 Jan, '24
JeremyIDK feel like mounts really dont work, i love using the glider, double jump etc. and mounts feel like theyd just disrupt the very fluid style of exploration currently in the game!
4 -
31 Jan, '24
Dust@kelt note that the map will be around 64km on full release. So mounts would apply to this very nicely instead of gliding around all the time even if gliding is faster mounts can have many more uses than just riding

31 Jan, '24
CassiI'd very much like mounts, they don't need to go significantly faster than running even. I don't like fast travel the way it's implemented as it feels outside of the world vs an in-world mechanic (the way fast travel was implemented in Valheim for example feels in-world), so I tend to run or glide everywhere right now lol
8
For mounts to have a purpose beyond travel speed, allow us to make saddlebags and gain a bit of inventory transport space! That will make resource-gathering expeditions on your mount useful. -
31 Jan, '24
AaronFor early game, a purely traveling mount would be nice. Like a horse which you can find in the wild and which flees if there's a fight incoming.
7
For mid-game, a pet-like mount would be nice, which won't just flee but stay with you. Later, maybe even attacks the enemies.
And for endgame, I always loved the flying mounts in Avatar to explore the world in a beautiful, relaxing manner. Flying mounts for sure should be totally endgame though, for when you've already been to all the high quest places. So you don't have to place down altars or climb the mountains manually each time.
In case the mounts don't just flee but also help in fight it might be worth to consider any cost for re-summoning your mount so it's not yet another free way to fight against heavy enemies by waiting in a safe spot. -

eluxoThis game does not need mounts. We have the ability to "fly" and we have the ability to fast travel.

I see that mounts are a cool thing to add to an MMO-RPG, as you can show your favorite mount to all of your friends (ignore the sarcasm, I am an MMO player and I love my mounts as well), but it would contradict the mechanics in Enshrouded particularly (looking as the miasma mechanics, they should literaly die in there pretty quickly).
Sprinting and gliding feels so nice in the game right now and I bet that adding mounts will make all of this feel pretty clunky in the end.
I know, that this is just my opinion, but from my perspective and the feeling that I have playing the game, please just don't. 🥺👉👈
