Magic Circuitry (Redstone) / craftable buttons, levers, switches
Think redstone from Minecraft. Magic circuitry would allow you to channel magic from a source to different objects, powering them up to perform specific tasks. These objects could include: magic torches, magic traps, hidden doors, etc.

If this can be used to create functioning portcullis and drawbridges, even better!! -

JustibaeIf base raiding/defense gets added, traps, barriers, spell turrets would also be super cool!
Also, if water gets added - using magic to conjure or remove water sources from moats, wells, irrigated tunnels/farms.
If thirst and hunger mechanics come into the game, magic circuitry could help automate water retrieval and crop harvesting! -

Nikolas MoreyPut down an input device click and hold to the object you want to power. elevators, doors that can only be opened by input (presser plate/button), fireplace, openable windows, etc...

NessThose interactive objects should be connected with pipes (a block) for magic to go trough, from a magic source. Add some leavers to change the flow through the pipes. IMO these objects don't have to move blocks but more like open/close a door, activate a explosive barrel, turn on/off a light source or activate a trap. These objects may explicitly be manipulated with the magic piping system or as an extra feature of an object.

Gemikani MergedIt would be amazing to have some kind of basic level engineering where we create working mechanics with wooden/metal gears, cogwheels, rope etc. Depending how we position them together we could have simple working cranes, windmills, waterwheels, drawbridges, traps and other moving parts.

NukEverything MergedAdding something akin to Minecraft's redstone would allow players to spend a lot of time crafting funny mechanisms
OR
an NPC who sells various mechanisms, as well as Wire Cutters and Wrenches, allowing the player to construct and activate wired devices like traps and critter engines. -

ARP MergedIn the Sun Temple and spires - Explorers will find square yellow buttons that act as a mechanism to unlock a door. Sometimes multiple mechanisms are required to unlock a door. My suggestion is to make available to explorers those mechanisms for base building. The door could be a craftable recipe and could encompass 4 tiers. 1 Mechanism slot per tier. Mechanisms are required to open the door and would also be a craftable recipe.

Clutchteufel MergedIt would be great if you could implement a function with which you could open and close objects, e.g. doors and gates, remotely. (I would also like to include lockable objects here, even though I am aware that you can theoretically dig and build around every puzzle). Maybe imprinting a lever on a door before placing it could work or something like redstone wire in Minecraft. Creating your own mazes and switch puzzles for other players would be a great thing in my eyes.

spacefiddle MergedDunno if the engine easily supports it without a lot of work, but, being able to place a switch or pressure plate or similar and, at the time you drop it, linking it to a door, would be pretty awesome.

DampendairTraps! TRAAAAAAAPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! Why is nobody talking about TRAPS! With the suggestion above to make base raids, this would be perfect!
Enemy AI might need a buff though.
Also auto hunting, auto gathering, potentially auto wood harvesting, maybe auto feeding smelters etc, and perhaps more.
You know, like Rust wiring. -

lanfrogredstone like mechanics would take this game from good, to a potential forever game like minecraft. its needed and would be by far the greatest addition of content.

SigmaJust coming in from a session in Minecraft playing the create mod. That mod wouldn't exist without the redstone system in Minecraft. Enshrouded needs it's own type of "redstone" system. From there you let the modding community do it's thing and the game BLOSSOMS. Of course this wouldn't be until after the devs have finalized 1.0. But this suggestion needs more upvotes. Start spreading it around. Just don't go to r/enshrouded and post it because the mods there are picky buttholes.

Peter Flindtfine... play minecraft if you want...
I see no point why this would make any sense for none builders.
