Longer Day to Night transition
Adding more Immersive Day/Night cycles; rather than instant transition. Sunset/Sunrise - lighting looks good in this game, why not capitalise on it?

I'm marking your suggestion as done. -

AstalphWhen I mouse over the green "Done" tag is says this feature has already been implemented and released. Is that true? Because the day/night cycle is still extremely fast. If it has been lengthened I can't imagine what it was like before.

SilvesterIt doesnt seem that this is done at all. The transition is pretty fast throws you off a little as it doesnt have the phase where you settle to a slow pre -darkness and then darker as the "world clock" ticks. its waves between dark less dark dark less dark not less dark, lesser dark, even lesser dark, darkness for 1 hour (in game time) and rest bright, brighter again

MonolithTMAIt is slightly less abrupt than when I played the closed beta and the demo, but it's still way too abrupt.

Jidaeng MergedHi, there no transtion or smooth transition between the night and day cycle, the morning appears suddendly and it hurt so much the eyes because it's suddendly bright like hell.

Please add a smoother transition. Thank you -

Orionox MergedSo the day to night transition is smoother than it was in beta, but it still needs some work. It will go from seeing the sun set to FULL night in like 2 seconds and that feels very abrupt and fast. it would be nice if the transition was significantly lengthened to give a better feeling transition from day to night and vice versa

OrionoxI know this is marked done, but it could still sue some refinement and work, still feels very abrupt

TOCruiseBe specific. How long should it be? It's already too long, in my opinion.

ElijahI honestly think this feature is fine how it is. Looks great. I wouldn't like if it were lengthened because who wants spend that extra time sleeping.

IllusionRayi would like to see a setting that actualy let you set how long day and night last, and yeah smooth transition is important especialy when the game look that good.

Pakxap MergedI think it would be nice if sunrises and sunsets lasted longer. Now night and day literally fall in a few seconds

AlexIf they are making this transition last longer, please look into the performance hit this causes. I get a stable 60fps everywhere, however, come sunset my frame times are all over the place with lots of random hitching and stuttering and I drop to 40fps, but it's not a stable 40fps and is very distracting.

CastlesWhy not let us determine the time of day in our servers?
2
Other online games like Rift and Elder Scrolls Online let players determine time of day in their housing instances.
It's great to be able to RP for hours during sunrise or sunset. -

JaqzynThis can't be done. The shift from day to night is still near instantaneous. Bright bright bright, 'oh the sun is near the horizon (still super bright) I better get somewhere safe', and instant darkness after a couple steps. If you blink you miss the transition. And with no way to progress day to night to day to start out early, you get to just twiddle your thumbs until night happens to make it day.

Captain AmazingThe skybox still needs work. Just an hour or two ago I was on a hill and the dusk sky turned on like a switch. The rest of the game world is too good to let the skybox stay as is forever, especially as it has been done well in inferior games. But it doesn't affect game play much, I'd rather see other priorities first.

Also, the sun doesn't seem to move smoothly across the sky. I like making a sundial so I can tell the time in game. And it's in the northern sky at noon. It'd be cool if it was overhead at the Equator and to the south once we get to the northern edge of the map, just like real life. -

Cali6anThe change of lighting could be more gradual. But since that would use a lot of gfx performance and require heavy optimization, maybe it should be for later.

Yusuf PolatThis is marked as done but it shouldn't have. The link in the top comment actually refers to a bug which was fixed. The suggestion was to keep dawn/dusk times longer so we can play in those gorgeous lighting for longer instead of them being a few seconds thing.

JdawgYeah it's way too short. Also it the sunset causes framedrops from 70-80 fps to 30 ish for me and all my friends, something is going on there

rocksoft0922even after the update im still finding the sunset time to be very short, the moon light transition/dark phase is cool but that lovely sunset is 2 minuets too short

David WallWhy is this marked as done? It absolutely is not, and it's way too fast.

LibertyNo transition between night and day, so it hurts the eyes as one commenter said? Don't notice this at all. I have a lovely slow transition night to morning, afternoon to night.

Cole YoungerI agree, its much better than it was in the demo, but the day/night and night/day transition is still happening WAY too fast. I realize that the transition may be the speed it is because the game is calculating a lightsource orbiting the world for the in game day/night length, but perhaps it could be adjusted if you want to keep night and day the same current length by moving the sun/moon slower during the transition, or just adding some kind of fading effect that makes the light darker as it approaches the horizon and lighter as it moves up into the sky. I'm basically saying its still way too fast even though its way slower than it was in the demo. It still "feels" like a light switch is turning on with an old bulb that needs to warm up for a few seconds before its fully bright.

CyneIt's because the sun is basically a point light source in the game. As soon as it drops below the horizon line, it's no longer casting any light on the world at all.
In the real world obviously the sun is lighting up the atmosphere, which acts as a secondary, slowly dimming light source.
It would be great if the sky acted as a global illumination source and dimmed slowly. Not sure how feasible that is though. -

KaneTransition still takes place within the minute. Way too fast. I also had a few instances where the sun started to rise, i went inside my house, came out a few seconds later and it was pitch black again.

leftcoastfunkWow what was it like before?! This "transition" is still waaaaaay to fast. Basically once you see the pink of sunset you better get your butt in gear
