Add First Person Camera
I very much prefer first person games, even if they are not shooters, as do many other gamers (a 1st person mod is usually one of the first to be released for third person only PC games).
Noting that this game is a custom built engine, it is unlikely that modders will be able to release a first person mod to make my playthorugh more enjoyable, so please consider this as a option on release.

DarXydeI'm usually at the other end where I prefer third person and is dreadful when there isn't one. Saying that however, while building (not sure specifically in Enshrouded), is often easier to add some trickier blocks or corners while in first person, so upvoting this.

NI very much prefer third person. I want to see my character. First person ruins immersion by forcing you to have tunnel vision and no peripheral without weird stretching of FOV. It makes sense for skill-based shooters, but third person is by far the most immersive experience for any game other than shooters. I actually prefer third person shooters also because I like the peripheral awareness and I'm not much interested in first person shooters by preference. For example, The First Descendant looks and plays great, but if it was in first person, I wouldn't even consider playing it. I feel every game should be third person and simply have a mode to swap between third and first person so everyone can be happy. It must not be easy to do because I've never seen a hybrid perspective game so far.

sbNewsomI prefer first person, unless the third person is done well. Here, no over the shoulder cam, constantly bouncing around camera, player at center of screen blocking visibility. If there won't be first person, at least make a third person camera that is at least in the post 2010's era.

MAL_RaznochinetsI love to build in first person view. Really helps.

FreeLookModeupvoting because yeah, if its not that hard, have the option for players like you. I hate first person with a passion. It find it the exact opposite of "immersive," it just looks jarring and dumb to me. But you are right, many, many people see it different, so let's accommodate either preference.

minho8012I am also a first-person preferred user.

In 3rd person, when you enter a narrow area or narrow building, the character blocks the entire screen, so you cannot see objects or targets behind the character.
Therefore, view switching first-person view is necessary.
The viewpoint view must be able to change depending on the user's situation. -

IllusionRaythe only reason i would add a fps cam would be for building when you need to place stuff in tight place when you cant have a good angle in tird to work, but yeah like most tird perssonne game you should be able to zoom in and out from tird to first.

Bimba, the MageThe point is not making the game a first person, but to be able to switch to it when you want. When roaming in tunnels and dungeons, the first person camera build suspense and an immersive vibe. At the other hand, seeing new outfits, and dodging enemies also give third person camera a sweet role in the gameplay mechanics. For those and many other reasons, this game should have both cameras, and the players may be able to switch on their will. Since this game has a tone of inspiration on Vallheim, I advice on taking a look on the vallheim first person mod, it's a total overhaul of the gameplay mechanics!

Wildust1st person at least for building purpose. Having the character ahead of the camera when building is like peeing eyes closed in a mug.

UzendayoFirst person camera as a toggle option when building would make for a better time. I have to remove my wizard hat most of the time when doing intricate details simply because it blocks most of the area where the indicator is.

JormundgardrThe lack of a first person or free cam makes building so much harder than it should be. Can you imagine trying to build a massive project in minecraft and being stuck in third person? I'm constantly falling off stuff when building roofs and stuff up high, the camera swings around the character in a way that makes positioning blocks so much harder than it needs to be. The camera gets bounced around by objects in the way and gets completely blocked by the character when trying to look upwards. It's so stupid to not just have a separate free camera when in build mode.

JesAs others have mentioned I also generally prefer third person point of view and for the most part in this game I do. That said, a first person view OPTION would be a huge help when building. Way too often my head is blocking my view.

Chris P. NuttsJust had the problem that the camera sticks while mining and building in underground in my characters back. So yes in some situations it would be great to have a first person view especially if you digging above your character the only you will mostly see is your own butt. xD

CalifaxisThe placement is hard to see, the camera is squirrelley & the UI is "slippery"

Currently the game is unplayable for long stretches & the promise of "Valheim but with better Minecraft building" is not being fulfilled -

Charly MergedI know someone has already suggested a first person camera. I imagine it may be challenging to incorporate a full on first person camera mode with all the animations having to suddenly be seen through a different perspective. I'm suggesting a first person camera that lets you walk around as well as place building parts. However, once you start doing something such as fighting or mining/chopping, the perspective switches back to third person. I believe this would allow building tighter bases and exploring more closed in ruins to be experienced in a more immersive way. I'm not saying the camera perspective can't become a fully fledged thing later on, but this seems to me like a good starting point.

SergeraSpecially for a game this pretty, with so much creative freedom, 1st person would be sooo immersive, and allow us to enjoy our buildings and the landscape in such a spectacular way!

amolochYES! Another REALLY GOOD reason to add this is chest interaction: it is really hard if you have a bunch of stacked chests to access the correct one quickly, you have to stop and move the camera and the character until it figures out what you want.

aside from objective things, first person really is more immersive, like what is more immersive than seeing what the char sees... -
08 Feb
FalkfischI generally prefer the third person view, but especially when building or renovating, you're always in your own way...
It shouldn't really be any trouble, after all, that's standard in a survival game these days -

ChrisI play survival games to immerse myself in the environment. I cannot feel immersed in a third person view. No first person viewpoint is an absolute deal breaker.

KuroganezDef need 1st person for building. Your player blocks for too much for detailed builds. Thankfully there is the undo button but spamming it kinda counter productive for builds.

David ZHaving the option to jump between 3rd and 1st person would allow more people to choose how to play. Personally I do prefer melee in 3rd, but building and bow/wand I would prefer to do it in 1st person for immersion and having more control to tune those actions. Having the option for both would impact on all of those areas as also add more immersion while looting around.

AaronFound the 3rd person camera challenging when mining into the ground, especially overhead in tight spaces. The camera doesn't have room to focus on anything so you see the very back of your head but have no idea what you are hitting. Being able to toggle it between the views would make that easier.

PsyconAs mentioned above, when you're in tight enclosed areas such as when mining, having the ability to go into first person perspective would help tremendously to see what you're doing.

MagnymbusAn alternative to first person, for the purpose of building, and aiming in combat; make the character transparent while building. I would recommend the "screen door transparency" technique for simplicity, performance, and avoiding the anarchy of transparent polys. I would personally also use it on foliage that's too close to the camera, but that's a separate suggestion.

Obi Wan KernobiNo one wants to remove third person. Just an option to switch to first person.

There will always be players who prefer one over the other. Having both options will only increase the player base - and that can't be wrong. -
