Moveable / Placeable Lava or lava as block / terrain
An empty moat that laughs at you and mocks you? Being able to be crossed by the enemy with ease because there is no threat of danger up to your walls? Here is the solution! Moving lava that we can pour into our homemade holes to surprise friends and amaze enemies. Like a true Flameborn, our opponents will finally meet a well-deserved, fiery end should they want to ask us as their neighbors for some sugar!

@Quixote: I have a suspicion it's because the in-world lava is simply a block and not a liquid. Not letting players harvest it probably was a design decision to avoid people discovering "hey why doesn't lava flow" / "why can't I pour out my lava bucket" since liquid mechanics, afaik, don't exist currently. Granted, this doesn't rule out simply treating harvested lava as solid blocks. As I said, probably a design choice.
I don't think most players would've complained too much if lava could only be harvested as a solid. I mean, the game could still apply contact damage as usual if you tried walking over placed lava blocks, though I imagine it would make building with them hazardous and annoying. They could've mandated wearing lavaproof gear which negated that damage, and prevented you from harvesting/placing/etc the blocks when you aren't wearing it.
Still not too late, they can still do something about it. Well, other than giving us liquid lava, that's still an issue with the engine. -

Or for design purposes, for example, a lava pool encased in stone in the forge, underground rooms with a large lava pool and a bridge over it... -

JoshCould reserve this feature to manipulate lava through some sort of magma resistant gear, or a lava siphon of sorts, just so it does not break the world building already in place while still opening a branch of crafting for us to do.

bear MergedI'd love the ability to harvest, or craft, lava/magma for use in decorating my bases! I'm working on a dragon cave system and am torn, because I love the presence of lava in the Obsidian Mines, but don't enjoy the layout of the cavern system. I want to be able to move and place and craft things with my own crispy hands! Are we flame born or are we not?

Truweildude MergedLava building block. I would like to use in a smithy/forge themed build, make a forge trough, also water blocks to mimic a quenching trough.

QuixoteI'm baffled as to why we don't have a lava building block and why this suggestion is not more popular. It would create excellent ambience for forge areas and dungeons, etc.

TSMGame really needs this , as building block , and as a trap if base mob attacks ever get added!

Bob JonesI suspect that there will be a volcanic biome and lava and such will come with that. This is highly possible considering that with the soon to be released water biome, water building will be added, and I am sure they will add rivers and such as well.
