Official Linux Dedicated Server
Currently, we must use Wine64 to run the dedicated server on Linux environments. Would be nice to have a native Linux distribution for the dedicated server.

dhkatzYou can use Proton now and it runs WAYY better. But yeah ideally we'd have an actual compiled for Linux build.

MaliciousInjuryUnder Debian I wasn't even allowed to download the server software. A message came,
1
that the operating system would not be supported,
or something like that. At least it would be nice if this block were abolished. -

FeyntWhile Proton may be able to do the job, a native Linux server would greatly reduce the friction to getting a server running. It also opens the way to containerising the server in a Docker container, which would make hosting effectively frictionless.

RichardThis is really important. We run a Dedicated Server with Wine, but there are package errors when the third (or at least) the fourth player is connecting: pending packets list is full -> Then the ping increases up to 20 seconds. We bought this game for multiplayer coop, so it isn´t play playable and people are frustrated. Our Dedicated has 16GB RAM, SSD and 6 cores, 2,5 Gbit/s without graphic output, so it should be enough. Rene M.This works for me, but I would prefer an official Ubuntu/Docker release.

MartinI currently have a debian server running wine. After upgrading from a 4x 3,2 Xeon to 4x 3,6 with HT, the game runs well with 3 players. Before, the overload message was constantly annoying even though the utilization was at 70%. Ping is always available through the domain for around 14-16ms, which is all good for early access. Only siw utilization is too high due to the emulation. Server: Debian Xeon 1271 v3, 24gb ECC ram, plus 12tb of additional memory on SSD for Nextcloud and other games.

TheSymahnOnly thing keeping me and my friends from buying the game. I really don't want to go through the extra trouble with Wine or worry about a broken save file.

GabrielSad to see this one have so little upvotes.
If devs want to have people hosting servers for this game, then they need to make it possible to do it using tools like steamcmd in anonymous mod on docker ASAP, so players can have more server options with good latency and maybe even develop tools to facilitate the management.
While tools like wine can work, it puts unnecessary burden in the process and requiring login to use dedicated server instead of allow anonymously in steamcmd makes people to only host 1 server per account. -

dakkaI feel really disappointed when I see games come up without a Linux Server option. I play with my gf and it sux to have to have my game open if she only wants to play (My windows PC can barely handle it). Also using wine or proton requires too much resources and kinda flakey in my opinion.
Debain - 12 gen i7-1260P 16 cores, 64GB Ram, 2TB SSD (having it run on something like this would be awesome) -
