Build Anywhere / Everywhere with no flame altar
With the previous game they made (Portal Knight) i liked how you could build and destroy anything you want. i feel like Flame Altar should be a thing that protects what you build instead of allowing you to build.

I was so stoked for the building system in this game. I've been wishing for a game with a building system exactly like this for so many years, and this one is *nearly* perfect! Having building tied to flame alters seems like such a misstep to me as it puts a huge limit on creativity. I understand that building isn't the main focus of the game, but I'm the kind of person who likes to build for immersion.
Unfortunately, the system as it is means I can't have a beautiful winding mountain path up to my restored castle grounds. I can't have a maintained cobblestone road leading to a private bath house tucked away on the edge of a forest. I can't have small custom rest stops along the main roads between bases. The building system has the depth of an ocean limited to the width of a puddle.
With a game that took so much inspiration from Valheim, I wish this was something they copied 1-to-1, because Valheim did it perfectly. Allow us to turn off build area and world reset. -

NaejimerIt seems complicated because outside the Flame Altar, the map is automatically reset after a few hours.
-

GeorgeI agree that the world reset would prevent this from working well but at least raising or removing the limit of flame alters would make things a lot nicer. ^
Or if wherever you build has effectively the same effect as flame alters so nothing resets within a certain radius of your build. There could be some problems from that but this is why I'm not a game dev. -

VixBUILD ANYWHERE!! I was so upset when i realized I was confined to a base. This game mimics portal knights so much i thought for sure open world building would be a thing. I want to restore old keeps and structures. there are so many great sites that should be able to be restored.

DavidI also would like to build anywhere, or at least, have more altar of flames to place around the world.

Roger MergedIt would be great if you could add a setting for both servers and single-player mode, allowing changes in the game world to remain permanent even when no Flame Altar is nearby.
For example, if someone digs a tunnel through a mountain as a shortcut, that tunnel should stay there even if there's no Flame Altar nearby.
Leaving a lasting mark on the game world is a significant aspect of gameplay, so why exactly are players restricted from this core element?
Apart from that, I already enjoy the game very much. :) -

tonechildI would love for this to be implemented but with some limitations in place. One idea would be that there are "dark flame" POIs that you have to extinguish, and once they are extinguished you can build within a generous radius of them. This would greatly increase a save file but I'm all for it. Was so disappointed when I discovered this, because in other games like minecraft and valheim I would build out roads and bridges around the world which was a lot of fun.
The flame altar could still be used for fast travel, or for unlocking special buildings around them. -

LeviathanRising MergedA free building mode separate of normal play mode that allows you to build anywhere. Still need to gather materials but you aren’t restricted by the flame altar level. Gamers that are builders at heart flock to this game for the ability to build and renovate, let us do it!
Maybe they can turn off respawns within a certain distance of a play built object to avoid the respawn issue. -

MaursBuilding anywhere would allow to traverse the terrain by building. You can place a flame altar sure, but only to destroy it after you make a bridge or ladder. Why limit the building? Just do it like Valheim.

Morcrist Meleth MergedIt would be really nice (for those who are so inclined) to be able to build anywhere, not just inside your Flame Altar's range. This could be accomplished by a simple toggle in the "Server Settings", or when you start a Single Player game on a new world.
The building freedom this would allow would be amazing. Again, a toggle would allow those who want it to have it. -

Melonits funny how people say, just do it like in valheim.
you do realise that the flame altar is just the workbench right?
you cant just build anywhere in valheim. you need to be within range of a workbench. -

TaryaThere could be a game mode for building, fixing existing buildings etc. It could be selected e.g. after you have collected all the crafting NPCs in your base game. Like in minecraft you could go around the world and renovate all the villages :D would love that

Himdude12I've climbed to the top of too many mountains in this game, that have a great view, only to find it's a no build zone. Why? Unlock these mountain tops for Flame alters and building.

Markkch MergedThe removal of the altar will not make the buildings in the area disappear
Or Let the altar have no upper limit
because, some player want build more building,in more places -

Batman10 flame altars is really really really not enough. Can an admin please let us know why this limit is in place? Performance? Design? It feels really bad finding yet another really cool spot you would like to build or fix up a town and you can't because you are capped out.

BrodemI dont understand why this is still an open suggestion. This is clearly not a direction the game will evolve in, right? They do a very nice job at keeping combat and building aspects seperated, therefore creating meaningful and challenging combat.
The moment you allow for placement anywhere, we are, as many pointed out, in minecraft-valheim-ark territory: "oh no! a foe too powerful?" -instantly surround it with a manmade cage... pillar myself up, out of reach... etc.
Even for a fantasy-world this is not "realistic". Building and shaping terrain takes time. Just because there is no long animation that plays everytime you place a block, doesnt mean its not heavily implied by the flame-altar restriction.
Hope this makes sense and is a understandable counter-argument! -

Sepha MergedCurrently, we have flame altars to build around, but their number is limited. It is impossible to build outside the altar zones, and any terrain modifications are reset with each reload.
It would be interesting to have an item, for example, a lamppost / street lamp, that would create a "small construction zone" around it that would be preserved in the same way as the altar zones. This item would have no limit and we could not teleport to it. With this, it would be possible to build long bridges, streets full of small houses, or to plant these lampposts in ruins to repair them, etc. In short, it would allow us to modify our world as we wish without needing to place 3 or 4 altars side by side to create a village. -

liku MergedAfter the storyline of the game on the continent of Embervale is completed, the construction restrictions on Flame Altar will be lifted. This will be the greatest step in the revival of the kingdom. The miasma will disappear, and the soil infected by the miasma will disappear, allowing players to freely build and revive the continent of Embervale. Materials can be harvested through a copy of a portal. Of course, this is a very distant thing.

DarkorEven if you have to place an altar to build. The builds and mining done should stay behind in private games.

GrimwellWish it was more like valheim where you put down a workbench and you can build a bridge over a river, then you either destroy the workbench and leave it... and everything stays.

Grimlock MergedHello everyone,
I’d like to suggest an improvement for the building system in Enshrouded. Currently, the Flame Altar build limit and the maximum altar level/build radius feel restrictive for large-scale projects like cities, massive castles, or RP servers.
It would be great to have an optional world/server setting that allows players to:
Disable the Flame Altar limit
Increase the altar level beyond the current cap (ideally unlimited)
Expand the build radius further
Making this an option ensures balanced worlds stay unchanged, while creative/Builder-focused worlds gain more freedom.
This would significantly boost creative potential and long-term motivation for dedicated builders.
Thanks for considering! -

TQMariahBe able to Build outside from flame and the buildings you make will be destroyed/reset like anything else in the wolrd outside the flame. Also you can keep the building outside the flame more basic for i.e can use only wood and stone to make the more basic cabins.

TQMariahhttps://enshrouded.featureupvote.com/suggestions/525133/comment/688613#comment688613 They could limit the building on places where are Significant Fights/ Bosses or mobs in general until you have killed them clear them all. Afterwards you can build as you wish. So people cannot still find ways to exploit the building for fights and big and hard bosses. In the other hand If people want why not be creative and find ways via building to help them make some small fort or something near the bosses to help them? maybe thats the things made those other games so popular as well. System already gives you the ability to make mobs passive and very easy to kill. Also you can build in the sky without support under it, and its a world of magic and supernatural. realism should not be an issue. also we speak about what people want, for their game.If you don't like that kind of practices don't use them.

Devius MergedHi everyone,I have been playing Enshrouded since day one, and I absolutely love the voxel building system. However, as a passionate builder, the current limits on Flame Altars are massively restricting my creative freedom.Currently, the build area size and the total number of active Flame Altars we can place are too small. It would be amazing if we could unlock much larger altar zones or, even better, have an option to completely remove these boundaries in a dedicated Creative Mode.Furthermore, it is quite frustrating that we cannot dismantle or remove pre-existing world structures like Flame Shrines, respawn points, or static ruins, even when they are inside our base perimeter. Being able to clear these objects would be incredibly useful for planning large-scale builds. Are there any official plans to implement these features or introduce a full Creative Mode for builders?Thank you for this amazing game, and I hope you consider these suggestions!
