Don't auto add to Hotbar
Put in a setting that stops stuff like food from being auto added to hot bars or let me lock them so things cant just pop in.

Don't make picked up items directly go to the hotbar - just let us decide which items should be there and don't override it always after picking up something pls. (for example - one key just for torches - which gets always stumbled over, if you pick up another one and have a free hotkey yet - which is not good right now -

Lefty MergedAs the title states, the ability to disable auto-adding of items to hotbar is a definite necessity. I spend more time than needed dragging items from the hotbar to my backpack, and have even wasted items immediately after acquiring by trying to punch boxes.

CuteFoxeh MergedPlease add a button lock the toolbars(actionbars) so when you pick up new items they go into the backpack instead of the toolbar. It is very annoying that i cannot keep my toolbars neat and tidy with only the things i need at hand.

AvatarAn exception should be that if your backpack is full, then it uses hotbar slots. I don't want to be told my inventory is full when there are actually slots free albeit in inconvenient places.

BarbabosYes! This please. I sometimes miss click my hotbar weapon or healing item and start drinking a random potion or raw meat. I also hate that its 1 hit use.

Bobbette MergedIt’s very annoying that picking up any object puts it in my hotbar. Objects should fill the backpack first not go to the active hotbar first. The trickster skill where you get a magic unarmed attack is awful to use because you have to constantly clean junk from the open spot used to unarm attack. Even besides that the hotbar should not be auto filled.

NerdrageIt would be great if items removed by picking up would instead go straight to the hotbar so we can re-place them. Currently they're one of the few things that *avoid* the hotbar and end up in your backpack instead.

krxlloIn base, please auto-add previously used items to the same spot, i.e. remember last used spot when moving/replacing/adjusting an item in base.
For example: when placing a table then wanting to move or adjust it, it ends up in inventory and needs to be put back into hotbar again and again and again... -

Foxglovez NHotbars are not for random stuff like raw meat that poisons you. The hotbar is only for items added on purpose. I also agree with above, if my torch wears out then replace it from inventory though in this game you can repair torches so that might not work. I dunno, but random crap falling in the hotbar seems really weird.

ultimategrungoThere could be a “hotbar lock” option that would functionally do the same thing, and along with a way to tag items as “favorites.” This could also keep you from scrapping equipment on accident, which is a real bummer.

Austin Mergedwhen picking up a home decorative item, it doesn't go into your empty hot bar slot, instead it goes into your inventory, making you have to do extra clicks, to select the decorative item, like a hug, or candle, and keep moving into your hot bar slot, this can be an issue when your having to repeatedly place the same decorative item multiple times to get it in the right spot in your house, again however because the item doesn't go into your hot bar when picked up, you have to do TONS of extra clicks/buttons that compounds with each placement attempt

Samesama8 MergedAlready ingame albeit with a workaround. Have an empty hotbar slot but don't have it be the active/equipped slot when picking up the item. Picked up things don't go into your active slot, even if it's the only free hotbar slot.

WildustI unlocked the talent transforming the unarmed strike to a magical strike. Very often i'm finding myself eating a raw meat i looted because of your auto-add to the hotbar.
That's weird. I can't imagine anybody in the dev team had tested this feature seriously. It can't be. This feat is just an auto-fucking self.
I don't even mention the non-stop mental charge to check if my hotkey is still empty... all the way i'm playing.
This needs a locking option ASAP.

XE Mergednot all items goes into the hotbar tho. i pick up lights but it goes into backpack. i have to manually move it over to hotbar when i just want to simply reposition lights.
needs to have qol option to force it to backpack/hotbar. -

Alex MergedYep, this is a good idea. I like to organize my hotbar and if something is missing i know i need to restock. With this current system some random item fills the spot and i don't notice if the previous item from that slot was consumed

Dylan Hoke MergedPlease remove the ability for inventory items to have priority in action bar slots. I go to transfer goods and goods dont transfer stacks because the stack of raw chicken is on my action bar and not in my inventory.

Don MergedI also feel that the option to choose whether picked up items are placed in the bag versus the hotbar should be available. The only instance where the bag would be a priority is if there is an existing, non-full stack there already. With the high frequency of managing inventory in Enshrouded. I feel that it's important to mitigate the number of annoyances, so that we can get back out into the world and continue our adventure and enjoyment.

JAgree on this one -- it's frustrating to have skills require an empty slot on the hotbar but then have nearly everything you pick up auto-slot itself to that same hotbar. My play cycle as a ranger has consisted of craft arrows >> craft arrows >> craft arrows >> kill something >> loot something >> open inventory >> remove item from hotbar >> repeat.

Deano MergedWhen we pick up raw meat can you not allow it to go direct onto our bar please. Make it go into our backpak. Sometimes when in battle we select an item on our quick bar without looking it can be raw meat that we consume. It frustrating because we don't need raw meat on the bar unless we are ready to cook it. Collecting it straight onto the bar is a no no please. Thank You. Love the game and enjoying it thus far :-)

michael MergedPlease add the option to turn off items picked up being assigned to action bar. Trying to use an ability that requires UNARMED attack but it is never an empty slot for me to select to switch to unarmed attack to use the skill. Always filled every pick up.

spacefiddleFoxen is a little harsh - i've seen plenty of games with worse issues than this lol - but they're not wrong either. To use the Trickster punch, there seems to be no way to be "unarmed" other than to leave a slot on your hotbar empty.... and as soon as you pick something up, even if you have a dozen empty backpack slots, it's not empty any more. Either the skill needs to work differently, or this needs to be fixed. It's not QoL, it's about basic functionality of the skill in the game.
Avatar's comment got a lot of votes, but it will still break Trickster, so it's not a good idea as the skill currently is.
It might be better just to make Trickster work differently - OR, better yet, have a way to select "unarmed" / no weapon wielded, that doesn't depend on an empty hotbar slot.
