Salvage crafted items
We need an option to salvage previously crafted items that are now taking up inventory space. Deleting them feels like a waste.

Placables such as furniture, fences, windows and doors should also be recyclable, returning a portion of the crafting materials used to make them. -

ReViive MergedI think that being able to recycle your old weapons rather than just having runes to spend is a much better option. Deleting stuff almost is a slap in the face cause you are literally removing time spent from the game never to be seen again.

DragonsDuskI know we can now salvage some weapons for runes, which is fine, I'd REALLY like to have something we could do to get some materials back from armor. I do not expect a full refund just a few pieces of fur maybe or metal scraps?

SländerYou can disassemble armor and weapons and use the runes to upgrade your favorite armor. It's a great solution.

ShegarConan Exiles had a crafted dismantling bench. You could put virtually anything into it and get some materials back. A similar mechanism would be great. It feels very wasteful to delete items, particularly in a survival game.

jhoaas MergedCan we please get the option to salvage armor/rings as well as weapons? and it would be nice if we could upgrade those as well.

GrifR MergedAllow us to more usefully "dispose" of obsolete/unwanted items than simply removing them from inventory.
For example, decrafting armor can give metal ingots or leather.
Decrafting some components sounds better than getting a few dozen more runes ^^" -

FaceWhy not make Crafted items be Salvaged into crafting materials (e.g. 50% of resources spent on crafting is returned after this action)?

Raywould be nice to do this with all of the found rings as well. Can't salvage armor items either.

YinanNot only crafted. All Equipment (Armors, Rings, Shields, Crafted Equipment) should be in some way "recycable"... either by turning them all into Runes, or by doing something else meaningful with it (like returning some of the materials used for crafting them or something like that for the crafted Equipment).

Jeromy SmithEspecially building blocks. I have a ton of rough stone blocks as I've replaced them with a newer material. Let me break them back down to raw stone.

LeaperNot just armor but things like storage boxes etc.
Those magic chests cost some fancy mats and as we progress to making larger ones we lose all the prior investment.
Would be amazing if we could just upgrade boxes instead of having to empty them and then start over with a new one! -

salvage manTHIS. Also, make it so you can salvage the other gears like armor and shield. etc.

TheJimReaperBeing able to recycle an item would be nice, whether you've crafted it or collected from your travels would be nice. I've deleted so many things purely because I don't have the space to keep them. I could be using the things from those items to create something I need.

WilyWizardArmor and rings need to be salvageable or recyclable. Runes or crafting mats would be nice.

AllamagoosaI agree deleting crafted items (even if no real big deal) seems like a waste. I would like to salvage some percentage of the components back to usable form. So instead of deleting a small chest use the material to create a bigger one.

WJSThis really should be a thing, even if the yield is very small, it would still feel an awful lot better to be getting *something* back instead of simply deleting things.

marcovchbSalvaging system for wearable gear such as armor, rings and shields should go tied to the upgrade/enchant system for such gear. For instance if we salve our 100th uncommon(green) Elder gloves, we got a new resource for enchanting, lets call it "Ember Shards". Then we use those "ember shards" to infuse on our brand new gear to unlock the perks for uncommon, rare, epic and legendary armor such as our legendary (yellow) Elder gloves :)
Also, please allow us to dismantle our crafted furniture for half the resources invested in them! -

LullaByAny item that is craftable must be possible to be “recycled” to obtain at least some of its components:
I am thinking not only about gear for runes, but anything that can give us back materials, like building blocks, furniture and appliances, food for humans and farm animals, seeds, or in short anything that you may have crafted manually, or with the help of a bench or NPC, and that has become obsolete, or simply crafted in the wrong quantity. -

LinkGoesHIYAAAEven if we only get back like 80% of the resources used to craft the items, deleting the items makes it feel like a waste. I don't want to collect for and craft 2 full sets of armor (me and my partner) knowing that very soon I'll be throwing those away to just make a different set soon. Feels like I'm forced to either make a poor investment or just use the less powerful armor for longer so as not to waste time and res.

IlmareYes, and why can't we salvage magical rings for something? I scrap everything and then hoard it. :) Because it feels right. ;P
If we cannot salvage it, we should be able to sell it for runes or some kind of rare resource with the bard or the new vendor lady with the lunar stuff. -

PaulJAgreed. Honestly we should be able to salvage ANYthing. Yes, give us minimal resources for things like broken furniture in ruins, but the point is to get rid of the "delete" option. Why would anyone who lives in the game universe throw something away? They'd probably create a "recycling pit" and toss all their unwanted items into there so they can salvage them later when they have time.
You know what? Make this a feature of one of the improved NPCs, i.e. a recycling dude. You give him items (or put them into his specialized "recycling pit" storage), and after some time you get the component resources in the output storage bin. Pretend that he will go around asking specific NPCs to help e.g. blacksmith to recycle weapons and armor and other metal things, while for wood items he needs to talk to the carpenter. The point is to give NPCs more things to do (i.e. make them more useful) as well as lessen the player's time spent on micromanaging small tasks. -

JackieI am with everyone else here and think some way to salvage items should be possible. The fact that we build smaller chests and such and then get to be able to build larger/better things but have no way to salvage those original items is a bit rough in my opinion. Like even if we could break them like settlement items and get some resources back would be great.

LeahA salvage crafting station would be nice! If it even gave 50% of materials back, that would be great! (I agree re: the chests. We all have to upgrade them at some point, and then we end up with a load of crappy old chests sitting inside of another chest somewhere lol)

GenXGrannyAbsolutely upvoted! Scrap Metal, plant fibers, string, ores would be a great return on certain materials and take down storage space.

mikeI'd love to salvage materials from the 50 chests I made earlier... Or other items. Right now it kinda sucks that once I want to upgrade my chests or other crafted sutff, the old one is basically junk only to be deleted :(
