Creating books from old books
It's ridiculous that it takes 80 books to make a single decorative book item.

KDragonEither make it easier to acquire the books without having to hold E to dismantle them, or vastly reduce the cost needed to make the decorative books.

DeLindsayThe cost is absurd. It should be 1-1, so if I want to make 1 book it costs 1 salvaged book. If I want to make a stack of 4, it should cost 4.

Cole Youngereven if the thought is that its 20 damaged books stitched together to make a new one, that is excessive and painful for something that is only a decorative item. Please reduce majorly. I would be happy with 5 to 1 instead of 20 to 1 as a more fair ratio. Though it still makes more sense to be 1-1.

George MergedWould it be possible to add paper as a material for making books?

Currently it takes 80 old books to create 4 books. I think this is a bit to much farming considering the conversion is 4to1 (20 old books make 1 Book). When you find a book in the world you will get 1 old book from 1 book. If you want to build a libary (which is what I am doing in my mage tower,32 cabinets) it would take ages to gather all the old books to fill the shelves.
Perhaps this could be reworked so that the Books in the world would drop papers instead of "old books" and you need 20 pages for 1 book. 1 Book in the world would give you between 8-14 pages.
As you can create pages in the laboratory this would be quite useful and you could make your own pages.
Alternatevily you could increase the "old books" drop from Books, or lower how many old books you need to create a book.
If later on there will be an easier way to acquire old books please ignore this post. -

Yukko MergedI don't know I think 80 too 1 is kind of absurd for purely a cosmetic item

Alex MergedThere's no reason for decorative books in this game to be so expensive. The process is already tedious and unfun to do (going to towns and 1 by 1 dismantling every book). A stack of 4 books should not cost 80 books. 1 book shouldn't even cost 20 by itself.

CristariAgree with reducing the requirements to make the decorative costs of making books, 80 Old books to make a stack of 5 books is way too much and 20 old books to make 1 book is horrible. Please reduce it to one or two books and maybe ink and some paper? or increase the number of decorations you get for crafting this.

The ParthalonianI just want them to STOP making books destructible once they are created.... it took me a WEEK of gaming to get enough old books to fill ONE bookshelf, and one accidental punch destroyed almost HALF of that.... WHY, WHY would you make items players put down so easily destructible.... WHY???

I don't have endless time to play, and I am willing to pay for a game to enjoy what little time I have, but not if there are mechanics that are ridiculously retarded as half a bookshelf being destroyed by hitting it with one freaking punch !!!
NO placeable put down by a player should be destructible by said player, that just INVITES vandalism by other players.
And YES, 80 old books, is ridiculous as a cost. four to one, maybe, two or three to one more logical, but 20 or 80 ?????
Nonsense.
If this game is to have longevity & become the next great hit, the mechanics need to be solid, not this kind of rinky-dinky-doo Korean-Grind crap.

God speed making those libraries. -

Sokomanagathering 20 to 80 old books is a ridiculous amount for cosmetic especially if you want to have a library. I think if we had the option to use the pages that we can produce at the alchemist laboratory for book making, it could cut out a lot of that run time.

FallenQsnowfarmed 6 hours in scatterbone sun temple where you get best glider you can get like 52 books in 2 mins in that time got like little over 9k old books funny thing you can only can fill few bookshelves with that amount so ye they need to remove dismantle or at least lower cost of books at least 1 to 5 or even more i guess i will be farming for other 50 hours to fill everything or hope for change like they did for tin

TaijkThis was resolved in Patch #2- V0.7.0.2.
• Lowered the amount of the resources needed to craft decorative books. (not all books are the Wheel of Time) -

alifetobemadeDismantling books should get paper, and looting books, should get the placeable books themselves, rather then materials to make a book.
that could also add the feature to make more custom or special books via crafting, with paper and other materials, such as making leatherbound tomes or grimoires with leather and paper or different colored books via paper and colored fabric. Still keeps the craftable and dismantling aspect, but makes it more realistic and reasonable.
...Because honestly, no one realistically would walk over to a bookshelf, rip up a bunch of books, and then glue a bunch of the random pages together just to get a new book to put on their shelf. ... it doesnt make any sense, so why is it that way in game?
