Should be able to block immediately after releasing the block button.
I feel that shield/blocking should be immediately reactivated when pressing the block button after releasing block. As it stands, there's an animation that it must play through before you can raise your shield back up. If you click too soon, nothing happens, and you must release and re-click/hold block for your character to perform a block.
This breaks the immersion of combat, as someone wouldn't simply wait to put a shield down completely before raising it back up - you'd make an immediate adjustment. I feel the same should be performed in-game. This would make blocking attacks more consistent and combat would feel better as a result.

Jawn MergedWhen you have the shield up and attack without releasing the shield button, the shield should go back up after the attack finishes.

Baltius MergedPressing the block button (right mouse button) should cancel any attack and perform the block effect (usefull for perfect pary) its boring to have to wait an attack to pary because you could be attacked after pressing left button and can't do anything about that, very frustrating)

Ventaur MergedWhen I block, lower, and then block again quickly nothing happens. The animation to lower your shield/weapon is not interruptable by blocking again. This creates an opening for an enemy to attack and has been problematic (causing a lot of damage I should be able to avoid). You will likely notice this the most when trying to parry, as you assess the enemy's telegraphs, and block/re-block to get the timing right.

KralFurther, if Holding the block button and I swing, block stance should automatically re-engage after the swing instead of requiring a release and reclick of block. the requirement to button dance causes massive openings allowing attacks that would have otherwise been blocked to eviscerate the player.

Sharp_StoneWhen switching the shield it plays the block animation. Get rid of that to. It's impossible to run a magic shield and a tank shield at the same time. Since switching to the magic shields it does the block animation it takes a second or so for the shield to disappear so you can block again.

Iloids MergedTotally agree. That's also an issue, when parrying with a two-handed weapon. Should be easy to fix and makes combat way more comfortable!

KaneThis is really the main reason why melee combat feels so janky and frustrating. There are so many moments where you move away from an enemy, holding the block button (expecting to keep facing the enemy), but instead turn around and receive crit back dmg. All because of an arbitrary timer that isn't visible nor intuitive. I realize it's part of balancing but this is not an elegant solution.
