A production tool to extract Resin
Resin and twigs have a horrible drop rate. Instead of increasing the drop rate of each, make a tool that takes regular wood and extracts the resin, leaving behind both twigs and resin as a byproduct.
You could also add new recipes by extracting something like a corrupted resin from shroud-wood... whatever that would be, and that could be the basis for new recipes you might want to add. That way, you ADD to the depth of the game and add more vectors for the introduction of new content at a later date via a means of progression that adds even more meaning to advancement by adding another Quality of Life Tool that players can unlock.

eobet MergedThis might be unnecessary until the devs fixes the world being reset every time you play (and not being able to affect things outside a very limited area), but it would be nice to be able to harvest resin without cutting down a tree. Perhaps by being able to craft a "resin extractor" and attach it to the tree and have a timer on that, as that's the most common way in real life...

inbinceableFYI, You can make shrub seedlings in the farm. Grown shrubs GUARANTEE twigs production from every shrub seedling. My crew has over 3000 shrub seedlings going currently... there is no shortage on twigs so maybe you just don't know that.

But I agree that resin could do with a higher drop rate from cutting down trees or a gauranteeable drop source from a monster/mining/farm or crafting recipe. -

KaiFor twigs, the only seedlings you can grow are the tier 1 variant that only gives 1 twig and 1 plant fiber, it's a extremely time consuming process when it's faster to harvest it by harvesting small trees in the north forest biome that is tier 2.

You can't seem to plant those same 'trees' that you can chop to get 4 twigs though, it would be better to mass produce those at a farm.
All in all the best solution would be to make 4 twigs a guaranteed drop from all trees.
That or add a recipe to the table saw to convert wood log into twigs at a 1 to 4 ratio (1 log = 4 twigs). -

StoneVisit Revelwood. Chop the smallest trees, they are very quick to cut down and drop 4-6 twigs per tree. For resin, chop the red trees.

TaylerBootzYou can mine twigs in the second biome. They usually are under rocks that look like dens. You can also get a lot of resin in the 2nd and 3rd biomes. I actually hope they don't change the "biome reset" as I like having reliable farming areas.

Sylviaor maybe make red trees plantable , they would be a great resource for resin

AlexTrees which have brown leaves in revelwood (north of the spawn area, around level 11 area) drop resin. If you know that, then farming resin is super easy.

MereMortali think resin drop rate is fine, i got stacks in my storage, barely need them, what for?

docmarsGo inside the animal dens that look like a bunch of roots/twigs (I thought they were bones at first) and use your pickaxe. You'll harvest a boatload at those.

SamTo farm resin just look for the trees with yellow/brown leaves.

But some kind of tool to stick into a tree in your base to collect it overtime would be nice. -

WinterXBeholderIt doesn't make sense to me to chop down a whole tree for a little resin. This would be nice. Though, side note after reading comments, I like the world resetting... I don't want to clear-cut the world of its trees and I don't want the chore of replanting them, and I don't want my impatience to spoil exploration for my wife in the same world.

leftcoastfunkI love the idea of a resin extractor. Since you can plant trees from seedlings within your flame altar area, it would be cool if you could then craft a resin extractor to place on one or more trees (as opposed to growing your own tree then chopping them down and just hoping they drop resin. Since the red-leaved trees aren't plant-able afaik, there's no guarantee you'll get much resin from that method)
A related thought is what if devs made the full-size trees leave stumps when they're chopped down IF within your flame altar area (where the server-reset functionality of replacing everything on the map you chop/mine/break isn't active). The resin extractor could perhaps only be placeable on a stump. You could just dismantle or further chop down a stump if you desired to completely clear it instead of leaving it for resin extraction. Stumps could possibly also be used to grow a different type of mushroom/fungus or something
