The voices of the NPC's (or the blacksmith at least) are really obnoxious. I find the shouting detracts from the game rather than contributing to it. At the very least, fixing the setting to turn down their voices would help, but redoing the voices to be less obnoxious would be even better. The first impression I got was "seriously? I just rescued you and you're insulting me? I'm thinking I'll put you down a hole!" -

Bas MergedThey are driving me nuts, repeatedly shouting "oi!!" "helloooow" "heyy". Turning down 'voices' in sound settings doesn't affect their... voices.

Carmen MergedMake the NPC mute or have the option to mute them. Hi, Hello, and Bye-Bye are not lore-friendly and inappropriate for the game time, and the voice acting is very bad, the "huh" sounds dumb. They should also stay away from you when you are trying to build something and not get in the way, feels like they are harassing you.

JustAnotherPlayer MergedAfter Update 7 the survivors were supposed to interact with each other, but instead of talking, they just walk up and grunt/moan at each other constantly. At first it was funny, but it's a bit... distracting. Maybe hire some voice actors from fiverr or something so that they actually have small dialog lines they say to each other and go on cool down so it's not constant either. I like the thought process for this change, but I don't believe it was tested enough, as grunting noises are pretty much happening constantly.

LibertyThe npc's in all my worlds no longer talk at all, they're all silent. Is this something that's been changed by the devs? Eg the blacksmith used to say "break a leg..." but no longer does, Mei-Yin Chen would say "be kind" but no longer does. It's very quiet now and I kind of miss their random comments.

drlaackensteinMaybe even just reduce the number of things they can react to. I don't think they need to "ooo and aww" over a chair. Perhaps just "working noises" would be ok if they actually were, you know, working.

PaulJI think a "talk less <------> talk more" slider would be useful in general. Some of us actually like hearing background chatter, while others have their blood pressure skyrocket when the Blacksmith jumpscares them with yet another loud OY.

The annoying shouting is one thing. This snorting makes me want to punch whoever put it in. -

Vash_tsPlease do include an option to mute / make the npc's more chill. Enter our base to craft something and suddenly it sounds like an orgy in there. you want your crafters close by for convenience, but just getting close to them ensures a constant hemming, hawing, moaning and grunting. And it does. NOT. STOP.
