In general I would love the idea. However I can see one issue for me and probably for a few other players. I like my cats and dogs in my space not in a communal area.
One way round this would be to have lockable doors as requested but something like a wand that can be pointed at a specific creature or NPC to allow them access to locked doors - provided of course they actually close it behind themselves.
Auto Closed doors as standard should be implemented anyway, at the moment as soon as the first NPC arrives every door in the place gets thrown wide open (apparently trudging round every closed door and opening them is just something the NPCs seem to do on a five times daily basis) and, as no-one is paying me to be a doorman, they stay open unless I have business inside one and close it behind me on the way out. -

Martarion MergedIt would be nice to have some kind of functionality to lock doors to prevent NPCs from opening them. What caused me to post this is after turning my Farmer from 10m to 30m wandering distance, she must have decided she should share her newfound (and apparently ill-conceived) freedom with the goats in the barn and promptly walked over to the door and let them all out.
This would also be nice for RP reasons, so we could stop townsfolk from wandering into our bedrooms/private chambers/secure vaults. -

AetherealglowI want to lock mine to keep the NPCs from wandering off! Also to protect pets. I can't believe this doesn't have more upvotes!

Yecats MergedFully agree with this! One of the players had to build a fence around the front of their house to block the door from NPCs.

Emilio Amaral MergedYes! I agree 100%, my friend!!!
I wonder how dangerous it will be as the roaming enemies be released.
NPCs should not leave the city. -

Logan MergedOh my god please.
Mr. Hawthorn. Mr. Hawthorn, this is not your house. Mr. Hawthorn stop sleeping on my floor and letting my cat outside, I do not want to staple your shoes to your porch again. -

ClaraI have a cathedral type place where there are huge doors between wings but little doors on the side, and I want the NPCs to be sensible and use the regular doors 'cause that's how old buildings like that work but nooooo they gotta throw those massive gates wide.
Let me lock some doors so they use the space in a way that makes sense! -

I wanted to post this suggestion and I saw this one. It would be very nice to be able to better manage the movement of NPCs, and avoid finding them anywhere in "private" places or having them leave the doors of animal enclosures open. Furthermore, this would add a plus for immersion in the world. Please add this fonction !!!
A key could be crafted and, if this key is in a player inventory, when he point a door, two option appeared: "E - Open" and "L - Lock" or "L - Unlock" depending the lock status of the door. -

Gorgot31 MergedCurrently, a server can be configured to define player groups with different permissions. However, all players in all groups can open all doors, thus preventing the creation of "private" areas inaccessible to players in other groups.
I propose a system allowing a player in a group to "lock" doors upon creation (or to allow the crafting of "locked" door models).
Therefore:
- "Locked" doors could only be opened by members of the same group and not even by NPCs (truly private areas!).
- Unlocked doors would be accessible to all players in all groups and NPCs.
This feature probably addresses the suggestions already made: https://enshrouded.featureupvote.com/suggestions/567701/lockable-doors -

AnadeThis, 100%. I think auto-closing doors (or the ability to make auto-closing doors, at least) would help. But then, I also really want to be able to lock doors against NPCs. And having the option to lock doors against other PCs would also be useful. NPCs flinging all my doors open and letting animals roam is getting so frustrating.

JenIn V Rising, you can craft doors that are automatically unusable by NPCs. Seems like a really easy fix for Enshrouded, and I'd love to have the option.

lilibatMaybe something like a key or key ring item that functions like the watering can with options to lock, unlock, auto close (so you can open it but it closes behind you), auto open a door.
