Brandon Peterson MergedLight snow fall and/or a season system would add great immersion and incentive to add more frost resistance/fireplaces to homes and builds to brave the cold as seasons change/come and go.

SygurdAdding seasons would be a great idea. Imagine all the biomes, especially after the 7th update.
Spring - flowering plants, lots of animals, melting ice, medium weather density.
Summer - hot days, warm water, low weather density,
(make sure you don't die from high temperatures).
Autumn - high weather density, cooling, change in terrain color (typically in autumn).
Winter - reduced animal and plant population, frost (make sure you don't die from the cold), weather conditions (snowstorms, etc.), frozen rivers, lakes, and ponds.
Furthermore, growing plants during a given season could be added to make things more challenging. -

RyanWould love to be able to plant maple trees and cherry trees for autumn colors and spring blossoms. Make a japanese zen garden!

PaulJWould love this. Regarding the weather though, I wonder about the engine limitations; right now, the greenery doesn't even sway in the wind/rain, which is why it feels so off. Particle effects alone (rain) aren't enough (not to mention there's no debris blowing in the currently non-existent wind).
Also, it would be odd if all the foliage just changed colours overnight. It would be better with transition phases; even if you just have a single seasonal model/texture for each plant type, you can change them in area batches rather than the whole world suddenly changing overnight.
This would also kinda lead into a calendar, unless you literally just want the seasons to simply change after a set number of days.
