multiplayer shared map reveal
when playing multiplayer its frustrating that the map doesnt update explored areas for everyone in the same party. some players are more exploration focused than others who may focus on base construction. this feature would actually encourage exploration through scouting parties.

I agree.
It should be an option that can be activated by interacting with an object or NPC, allowing the map to be updated based on discoveries made on the server.
Currently, this is already partially the case for the Ancient Spires: the logic is the same as for quests.
In fact , by default, you are aligned with the server, and you see the Ancient Spires that were activated when you were not present, but if you want, you can choose to see only your progress and retrace what you missed. -

BravoVet MergedLike in Valheim, you guys should add a Map Table in the game so tribe members can sync each others map markers with one another. If I am at work and my friend is on the game, he should be able to record what he found to the Map Table so when I get on the game I can sync my map with his map markers.

adam MergedWhen playing on another server or players game, have the map only show what they explored not from your original game. Hard to tell what has been explored.

dyingphoenix MergedI think you mean that the map is not revealed at the same time for all players. There should be a server based map reveal, so that all players see the same map and if one reveals parts of the map, they're seen by everyone.

Zhreax MergedIt would be nice to have a craft-able world map which could be placed to share within multiplayer or single player which gives the player the option to share with everyone where things are and what has been explored e.g. Wells, Flame Shrines, Caves etc. Also, could share markers and notes for the markers of good resource areas.
Having a map room would be fun to decorate and provides good quality of life within game. -

ShanraThis needs more upvotes D: This is HUGE. I play on a dedicated server and love being base b* but if I need to run out and grab some kind of material for building/crafting and my friends are busy or offline I don't have half the space explored and I have no idea where they've gone, sometimes quest markers don't even clear for me until I've explored the same space they have. Shared map details through a cartography table would be the best route, I think, so people who are offline can get the map data when they log in.

AnnwenYes! This would be so helpful! Even if it didn't update until you were back under the protection of the same flame altar. I love the cartography table idea. There could be some kind of explorer NPC to provide this, or it could be under the Bard's remit.

LJFor my group, the big thing that we want to add is shared Icons/Symbols to mark where things are and transfer between everything. I can see full map being shared being a server/play-level choice and then some kind of table to sync icons.

Nacho_Boss MergedIf the owner of a server or any players in the server have explored, the black/grey shroud cleared while exploring should apply to everyone in the server, not just that player. This applies to shroud that hides terrain, not the deadly red or green/blue enshrouded areas.

Andres MergedI'd love to have server-side map revealing, but also, making the map only "semi-revealed", in the way that a friend can show me vaguely the boundaries, but not the POI, where's the shroud, or even the height marks. That would encourage exploring by yourself, but at the same time being aware of where your party went, and get a little information of their exploration job

LullaBy Mergedthis suggestion can be merged with
"multiplayer shared map reveal"
It is actually a nice idea to implement that suggestion in game. -

HiemisI think both a cartographer Table and a Journey/Codex object would be awesome, for the late-game. We already have a map in the Game (Map of the dragon) just no way to open it of display it, I think the ability to make maps of various sizes (one complete map to sync up different accounts etc as well) to display both on the wall but also on the Table (like a table of war kind of item, where you can have your markers as figures or flags etc. and other players can then access this map to copy markers etc. ? Would be nice and “immersive”. Maybe to much, but the idea sound awesome to me). The Codex would be a Way to Sync up Journey entrances both would be very late game since I think that if you do that it would also mean a massive exp boost for the player if their new etc. or a very easy way to “cheese” the levelling process (at least easier than to spam 2 1/2 large Chests of Exp Scrolls) (though I don’t think that to be an issue, I can see why others might find that to be a problem)

DanielI have played other games that have this. I play mainly with a friend on a shared server (we don't explore separate) but sometimes one clears the map without the other. Having a map table or some way to join maps would be amazing!

ONI-JungeI don't think the map needs to be revealed to other players who haven't been there yet, so they can still see where they haven't been.
But it would be great if other players could see the markers you make on the map.
