Manual pathing option for npcs
Add possibility to add pathing / patrol points for npcs. It would be nice to have guards patrolling walls + it could help with "crowd aesthetics" - you would set exact paths for each npc in your settlement so they would appear where you want them.
The patrols should have option to pause at patrol points so they don't just walk infinitely

Please add a toggle for pathing at the very least. If I can't have them pathing a very small area then they're just an annoyance. -

likuYou can add a map range activity through summoning tools
I hope to add multiple movements to the villagers, such as working and hiking
Just like in Dragon Quest Builders 2, the villagers live freely -

GrampaI like the idea as is, but it would be even better if we could adjust NPC schedules as well. Carrying on with the guard path, one could be set to relieve and take over the path according to the time. It would also fit in to have farmers pathing to the gardens. If nothing else it would at least look better, but if an auto collection/ auto replanting feature is added that would all look really cool. Also, crafters could be set up to go to crafting stations on schedules.

AlissI really want my NPCs to be able to have a day and night roam location. So I can set them to move to the work locations during the day and back home at night. I still want them to roam, just want them to focus around their assigned locations rather than random walking.

Mark Watson MergedMake your town more alive by making it so that NPCs can follow a path set by you. By using the summoning staff you can set their start point for them to go to after they wake up. You then can add points for the NPC to walk to throughout the day including sitting points at benches, chairs at a table like a meal/banquet hall, a stool at a certain crafting station, and maybe even pathing to keep them out of bed at night so you can set most of them to go to the local tavern once the sun sets.
I saw another feature request for a world clock. With this pathing tool, you could set them to go to their pathing points at certain times of the day in order to tell them when to go to sleep or not, but at night time (7:00 PM or so) they will not let you crafting anything in their inventory anymore until the next day.
Now that I am thinking about this, maybe it would be able for them to perform emotes while they are in a position. Such as clapping or saluting. -

Nicholas MergedMy people like to walk on top of tables and inside walls. Unless we are going Duke Nukem and having undressers :D

cgsilverjust wanted to post the same. yes, this is the solution for many problems currently with not just NPCs but animals in our base who like to get stuck and teleport through walls...
I think the easiest implementation would be is a tool with which one could mark path/tiles which NPCs can occupy and ones which animals can occupy - this would be an invisible layer only shown when using the tool - 1 color for NPCs, 1 color for animals, 1 color when both can "tread" on a tile
Combining this with roaming range, one would have more control over all living being movement in the base and can avoid immersion breaking behaviours like spending time in the wall, falling into holes, jumping on top of buildings, etc...
