**more npc roaming distance options please**
**having the additional option for NPCs to be restricted to 3 meters and 5 meters would allow for having an NPC working in a quaint little shop having them roam the room, never lost on some grand adventure somewhere in the base or behind the shop would feel more manageable for some players less interested in the hide and seek regarding some specific NPCs the choice seems to be the chance of finding them bugging out in some corner behind the shop like an indecisive person who cant tell the difference between going left and right or the other choice of never stepping a single foot from their spot which is very dull. maybe making a visual radius where the NPC can roam would be a good idea to also help prevent such incidents.**

Would like to see any form of being able to restrict or isolate summoned NPCs, as they often get in the way or literally fall into a foundation hole during renovation. This could be anywhere from:
- Assign to station or build piece i.e. chair, throne, etc.
- Halt/stop movement -

Visigoth_I 100% agree... I wish we could set them to much smaller roaming distances (idealy being able to set barriers "bounding areas" would be best!).
lol... really; I wish they were fully embodied AI Agents (with their own little lives/ personalities: a "work, play, rest schedule/ goal oriented AI" but I won't be "holding my breath." 😉 -

P4NTØNEYes! I currently trap all my NPCs in a lower level underneath my crafting area just so they leave me alone and don't wonder off. Would rather build booths or shops for them to be stationed at

DoladorThis would be so ideal! The blacksmith should only roam around his designated area, and not sleep in the street when he has a sheltered bed.

MattiasThe 10 meter roaming is like an omni range that ignore walls and floors, they can walk 30 meters to a door, to go 3 stories downstairs to a point that is 10 meters from the original position 3 stories down. We build a house with 3 stories and the house is on stilts so all npc's go downstair and stand idle under the house in one spot. Super frustrating, i like that they are doing random stuff so having it at 0 feels boring, but we might get tired of them standing around in wierd places more than 10 meters away (more than 10 meters pathfinded from original position)
So short: The roaming range sould be pathfinded x meters, not an omni range through walls and floors. Or perhaps have an option to not pass through doors? That way they will just roam around inside the room of any size. -

MattiasOr another idea, being able to lock certain doors for npc's, or certain npc's. That way they can roam around inside a house, whilst the front door is locked for them.

PaulJSeconding what Mattias pointed out. "10m" should be 10m walking distance, PERIOD. Not "standing outside my bedroom wall is valid, even if I have to go around the entire base exterior walls to get there".
This ties with other NPC-related suggestions - I'd like to point out that NPC wandering is often annoying because it is POINTLESS. Think of games like the two Dragon Quest Builders games: the NPCs have routines at times of the day, they will travel to a destination and then only wander around that room. For example during mealtimes they will go to a kitchen, sit at a table if available, and eat if food is available.
The problem with Enshrouded currently is that NPCs only have one routine, and that is to sleep at night. That's why they seem so aimless during the day. They need to hang out near relevant crafting stations or other points of interest like gardens. I highly suspect that giving them more routines will solve a lot of the wandering complaints. -

Joyce MergedJust as the title says. While having them at roaming range equal to zero is fine to have them rooted where you would like them to be, I think that having them being restricted to something smaller than 5 meters, like 2 meters, maybe, would make things livelier!
What I have in mind is: if you place them beside a bed or a seat, while having them roaming 0 meters, they just stand there doing nothing at all forever. It would be nice to have them checking what they have in a range of 2 meters, so they could minimally have a seat, instead of just rotating towards the player. -
