  For those of us that want a small home and farm etc, the 2 wooden gates (more like arches than gates) provided in the game are extremely disproportionate to their wooden fence counterparts'.
  Something more akin to the minecraft open/shut gate would be perfect.
  Anything where the crude wooden fence (or the metal versions too) has a gate of the same size and that opens/closes would be an excellent, simple addition.
  Only a small request, but couldn't see it mentioned previously.

  I've missed a small gate that matches the wooden fence, so I can keep the animals enclosed, but still enter their farm area by opening the gate. Right now I need to ensure that the ceiling in my farm is tall enough that I can jump over the fence, which feels a bit silly, and also limits my building options/creativity.

  Frankly each fence type should have its own gate equivalents plus a couple alternatives. After all doors already exist in the game, the code to handle their opening and closing literally already exists.

  I’d like to have an easier way to create animal pens. Right now, animals can easily escape from simple fences. I have to use walls, which doesn’t look great. It would be nice to have a fence-like block that animals can't escape from. Also, a simple gate that closes automatically would be great. Right now, I have to jump down into the pen — I haven’t found a better way to handle it. What I mean is a purely building block that you can place as a wall or fence. And it should be designed in a way that animals can't escape through it (sorry, but yeah, like in Minecraft, it's actually done really well there).

  with the new tilt features you can use doors as trap doors. you can tip sliding hidden doors sideways so they recess into the walls sideways.

  I mean, I suppose you could use a secret door book case to open and close the way, but I'd rather have a gate to match the fence I am building. Even though I raised flower beds, the NPCs still walk all over them, AND they come to you and stand in your way while you are planting and say HEY. [eye-roll] Can't they see I am busy trying to feed them? Anywho, I had to add copper fencing (because it looked the best) on top of that just to keep them out. It works, but I have to jump into it because there was no gate to open.
  
  If the NPCs insist on talking to me while I am gardening, perhaps you should put them to work and make them plant/garden while we are away. :D

  There should also be one type of gate door for each type of gate, and one type of horizontal sliding door and hidden door for each material type, so they blend together properly.
