Summoning Staff: Add cats, dogs, and any other future pets to staff function
Request: Add a means of retrieving and placing any non-NPC, unique pet (cat and dog, and perhaps mounts if those become available in the future.) Farm animals are explicitly excluded from this request.
Rationale: Unique pets acquired via quest can become lost in your base, and difficult or impossible to find again. While we can TRY to re-tame (which might even be a bug? idk) or visit a free item mall to acquire another pet, the lost pet's bed is still permanently occupied...so we have to make another bed. This is immersion breaking and just so very sad, too. :(
Suggestion: The Summoning Staff seems to be the best candidate for this function since it already does exactly this for NPCs. I could see where a farming or hunting staff/crook might make sense, too, but I'd just as soon have one less staff to carry around. Perhaps a quest for the Farmer could add this functionality to the staff.
Thank you for all you do!

ChrisK MergedPets regularly despawn because of pathing issues. It would be really nice if our tamed pets would be added to a page on the summoning staff. Please?

lilibatI came here to post this if it wasn't already here. Pets (not live stock) should be on the staff because they sometimes get trapped in weird pockets under your builds and you can't find them.
Also would be good to be able to assign them to a specific pet bed and limit their range like other NPCs. -

Charli Knight MergedPlease give us the ability to summon our tamed critters. I've had to replace so many cats due to them just disappearing randomly.

Paul JI feel this might be an issue if you have too many tamed animals, or more than one barn. How do you tell goat #17 is the one that's missing and the one you want to resummon? If you have multiple barns now you need to figure out the one you accidentally summoned came from where.
I think the game should just display the internal ID when you mouseover an animal. Unless they figure out a visual identification system (e.g. names) there's no other way this is gonna work. -

Courtney MergedIt’s disappointing to go through the process of doing a pet quest only for the pets to disappear without warning. We should be able to summon them like the NPCs!

Jennifer MergedTamed animals frequently get stuck in walls/stairs/terrain and have to be picked up and placed again, only to do the same thing ten minutes later. Please give us some way to summon them.

MirandaI think it would be beneficial to include them in the summoning staff so that animals can be placed the way the people are and are visible in the lists along with craftspeople, assistants, and villagers. This will also help with visibility with their needs.

Desi MergedGreat game, but please give the ability to recall pets back when they disappear for an unknown reason. And if possible, give round details for building and a distant (flying) mode.

LeahMaybe even just a "reset pets/animals" that places them all near the flame altar. If we could assign beds to animals, then you could reset/summon all animals to their beds. My animals get stuck below the floor tiles and in random places like within the walls, behind furniture, etc., and it would be nice to just be able to reset them all.

VerrathUpvoted - I'm always dismantling my builds because a dog or cat (or farm animal) has bugged into a place wehre I cannot reach

Christina McCarthy MergedHave the three cats and three dogs, the house is surrounded by fencing from the crypt so they cannot leave the area, and Tiger has completely disappeared-can't find him clipped into something or even see his hunger bar-or hear his meow. Why can't we summon our pets? This is very annoying and sad. I love this game, however this makes me want to put the rest of the animals away because I don't want to loose them also.

AlexPets stuck inside a new piece of furniture every 3 minutes. This is NOT an exaggeration. Please add their functionality to the staff AND fix their pathing/hitboxes as well.

TallaThis the thought that I had too. The modification I would add, since it would be difficult to allocate specific identities if you had a massive goat farm for eg, would to only make the summoning staff work for the cats and dogs which are the questable pets and are found in much the same way as the assistants/lost souls so I think it would be easy to add them to the Summoning Staff. The dogs and cats all have a name in their quests so could be easily identified and could be directed just like the other NPCS by the Summoning Staff. It would stop my pesky cats and dogs getting lost under the foundations and havign to dig them out...... :-)

John OlsenI strongly support the inclusion of a "Pet Whistle", a unique item that would function in the same manner as the NPC Summoning Staff, but would only target tamed animals. Adding this to the game would end many hours of frustration for players struggling to extricate stuck animals from the bowels of their carefully crafted bases (no idea how my cat keeps getting itself stuck in spaces too small for a field mouse). Endlessly deconstructing and rebuilding a base is *not* an enjoyable gaming experience.

AkktaHello, as the comments suggest, I'm proposing an item, like a whistle, that allows you to summon a pet once you've tamed it. It would work like the NPC wand, but only for animals. This would be useful when they get stuck and disappear. Cats and dogs, and why not others in the future? It's frustrating to constantly lose pets and have to search everywhere for them. Thank you for reading.

Battlesparkive managed to avoid losing my first cat by building underground, and limiting its movement. However it still gets stuck, big time on things/walls etc. Hopefully this is updated or fixed. I dont want my buddy to starve man.
