Allow us to designate multiple NPC roaming spots to give us more control over where NPCs hang out
Additional to 3m and/or 5m roaming range request/ suggestion:
I don't like to root my town NPC to one spot, (because its creepy), but 10m is sadly too much to get them quickly. (I like to find them in the morning in their bed or on the toilet 🫣).
I put a bench on the balcony and often see some of them sitting together in the evening sun. I just would like to mark this spots so they come more often together, or to watch the animals, sunset or flowers.
With no range, rooted NPC also tend to get pushed away from their spawn point (into the table, bed, wall or decoration) by animals, other NPC or me. Current workaround: Take NPC-tool and respawn this NPC every ~3rd ingame day.
It would be useful if they could walk back to their spawn spot after getting pushed away for more than 1m.
And by the way you could give us 3-10 spots to mark places (or small areas, or furniture) for this particular NPC to interact, commute and/or stay a while. 😊
Thanks for reading!

I would love the option to place or "paint" specific areas of bases or towns and assign them to villagers the same way we do beds. Ideally we would have a general tool that tells npcs "you are safe to roam along these boundaries". we could place these on roads, in general use buildings and such and it would restrict them from wandering around in weird areas or winding up clustered up behind buildings (or stuck at the bottom of a cliff). And a "Home" boundary that specific NPCs could be assigned to like beds, basically the above but could be placed in specific areas to restrict certain npcs to only wander there, but where traveling to and from their bed. -

PaulJYeah, would be nice if NPCs hung around certain areas at certain times of the day. I can't be the only person who builds a kitchen + dining area, a relaxing area, or even simply long walkways with a view. Instead of picking a random spot to pathfind to, they should give more preference to spots that are inside rooms or other bounded areas, away from doorways and chests, etc.
Right now it's completely random and painfully obvious. Nobody in real life would just stop in the middle of a corridor or block a doorway or stand in the middle of a staircase. Their pathfinding should reroll destinations like that at the very least. -

DooflesMaybe in addition to designating a bed you could designate other things as belonging to them such as a workstation, area, or a chair. Then they would prioritize going to work, sleep, relaxation, or "other" based on their profession/personality. "other" could be things like, the hunter prefers to be outside regardless of the weather but the farmer only likes to be outside during sunlight, and prefers to stay near livestock or plants growing in farm soil. The alchemist prefers to be inside for most of the day near their designated workstation. The carpenter likes to be in their workshop or next to the nearest trees, and the collector prefers to be inside, possibly underground. For characters like the lunar new year vendor or the collector, having the special items they craft nearby would make a room preferable to them over others.
That way they could always be found in certain areas based on the height of the sun and develop predictable rhythms, making them easier to find.
