Simple small prebuilt bases? / prebuilt houses
I'm not good at nor do I enjoy spending hours building bases, but I LOVE playing this game. Is there a chance for simple premade room blocks with roofs or something that easily connect to each other - room for bed/crafting stuff for each NPC - to plop down simply? Wouldn't interfere with the awesome builders out there, but would allow for those like me who absolutely suck at it and don't have a ton of time to dedicate to that aspect of the game and would allow for more play time in other aspects/exploration.

Have one of the NPC's (ex carpenter) have blueprints for prebuilt houses. Resource costs can be 1 to 1 for building it yourself but it would allow for faster village building and help people that arent as creative or struggle to get the buildings exactly right. These houses already exist in demolished/ruined versions in the game so this could be just using those models in a repaired version. -

MargoThere's some homes that you can claim for yourself that are in pretty good shape. You'll probably only have to dismantle some tables/furniture to make room for the workbenches. I found a list of these homes from someone's youtube video (not sure if that's fine to post here but you can probably find them fairly quickly). Some of them even have farms and gardens that you can make use of, so that's another thing you won't have to build!
For certain ones that aren't in pristine condition, you just have to fill in the holes and gaps in the walls or roofing and you're good to go. This is what I'm doing at the moment, as I built on the ruins of an estate. It still has a good portion of the buildings intact, so I'm just filling them in as I see fit. -

PaulJHave you tried just moving into some of the preexisting ruins? Most of the time all you need to do is patch up holes and remove some rubble.
The build hammer comes with a variety of preset shapes, there are a couple wall/ceiling panel types you could quickly throw together to make a shack. I'm saying this as someone who didn't really bother building much either when I first played the game. It barely takes any effort to slap together a box bunker if you really don't want to think of designing a base. The large (4M) row of shapes literally has large wall and ceiling/floor panels, you can slap them down in like a couple seconds and have a cube ready just like that.
Finally, outside the Cinder Vault and down through the "tutorial passage" are the Longkeep ruins. On the ground floor there's a small outbuilding, you know the one, with the fireplace with a convenient bonfire item ready for the player. Wall off the sides and you have an instant starter base. -
