  Perhaps have a 'once per X minutes' base test that parses the location of all NPCs and animals. If they're still in the same spot twice in a row, reset them.

  They already have logic for stuck players to be teleported, just apply the same logic to pets and farm animals; but obviously don't teleport them to the Cinder Vault but to their placement location. I would also apply this logic to roaming survivors.

  Animals move freely through doors, but building walls and furniture have an additional, invisible field for them, preventing animals from getting stuck in walls/furnitures. This can be 0.5 meters around a given object, as in building mode.
  
  I think this way, most of the problems with animals getting stuck in strange places will be avoided, without any additional action on the part of the player.

  My NPCs get stuck. A lot. In weird weird places. Frequently requiring me to break geo to get them out, or try to remember where their original spawn was and resummon them close to that. It would be nice to have a command bound to the summoning staff that would instantly move the selected NPC back to the spawn point that had been previously set as opposed to requiring a new one. Also could be used to safely get them out of the way while building. Something similar for animals might be like a whistle which would be great too but that feels like a different ticket. Anyway, not the biggest of deals but would be a nice quality of life improvement for us builders.

  Similarly to how you can use the flame alter to reset water, there should be a button to reset all NPCs and pets which makes them appear at their spawn points. A nice fast way to reset them.

  Recent experience I had:
  
  Dog is stuck between a sack and the wall. Can't pick up the dog because the sack is in the way. Can't pick up the sack because the dog is intersecting with it. Can't remove the wall because the dog is blocking building. Can't remove the ground because the dog is blocking building. Flooding the house until the dog was submerged seemed to reveal the dog's "Pick Up" interaction. Resolved after destroying half the decorations in that area and drowning the area in water.
  
  PLEEEEEEEASE, pretty please do a major update on NPC and animal path finding, clipping, getting stuck and so on. I beg you. Please, for the love of this wonderful game, please fix this. It really undermines creative possibilities when you know that so many of the the base designs you come up with are just going to be minefields full of traps for animals and NPCs to get stuck in.
