Base Protection & Build Permissions to Prevent Griefing
Currently, any player with build access can modify or destroy another player's base.
This leads to accidental damage, griefing and loss of progress on multiplayer servers.
A simple permission-based protection system would solve this:
Core concept:
Allow a base area (for example linked to a Flame Altar or claimed zone) to have an owner who can assign build rights to other players.
Permissions could include:
• Build / place
• Remove / destroy
• Access stations and NPCs
• Open containers
Players without permission can still visit but cannot change or dismantle the base.
As the game expands with more building content, world sharing and long-term progression elements, this becomes even more important for multiplayer stability and player retention.

Sciger MergedSimilar to how we have administrative options on the server, perhaps we can have administrative options for flame alters. This is for people who want to have their own bases but some friends they play with have sticky fingers. It could be similar to the administrative options for the server itself and who is given clearance at individual alters to do certain things by the alter creator via steam ID. For example: building/modifying terrain and chest accessibility. NPCs should still be able to be interacted with and crafted with if they are able to craft though, for the sake of other players being able to use them and progress.

Qahnaarin MergedPermissions should be at the alter level, not global.
A setting in json, "Communities:true/false".
If 'false', server stays as is, no change.
If 'true', alter placement/removal is limited to server Admin(s) only, and a new gui option in alter 'social' (pulling info from current 'social' tab already ingame.)
Player1 asks for an alter, Admin sets alter, uses social list inside alter to assign Player1 as 'owner'.
Player1 can then interact with alter, and invite other player(s) to join that alter, with inventory/build permissions within that alter base only.
Rinse and repeat.
Each alter is treated individually by the game, meaning each alter can retrieve/place npc crafters, assistants and villagers.
'Strengthening the Flame' would most likely need to remain a global effect due to need for seperate instances for each alter community causing server stress. -
