Pickaxe Weaponswap

I think its a mistake, we cant swap directly to range weapon while we have pickaxe equiped. I cant fast Q to range weapon. I can do this with other tools like axe but not with pickaxe it should be changed no need to swap first to another weapon and then to Q range weapon while holding pickaxe. Or am i missing something?
