Dye metal portions of armor

At the moment, the dye we can apply to our gear only applies to fabrics, leathers, and a few gems on the armor. Metal portions of gear cannot be dyed. While I understand that metal cannot be dyed in the same fashion as cloth or leather, countless other games allow for metal coloring to be altered (ESO, GW2, FFXIV). I am just curious what the intent was here because it makes the system feel half-finished.

I would like to be able to mix and match the chain and plate armor sets but with their differing metals, they clash terribly sometimes (example, Brazen Bull set and Mountain's Shadow set) while their cloth and leather portions can match without issue.
