Ability for blacksmith to upgrade tools more

I have a suggestion. I kinda don't like that I have to pickup wood after cutting down a tree when mined materials go straight to my inventory. So how about an ability for Blacksmith to upgrade tools and weapons a bit more? For example, players would have to find runesmithing tools for runecrafting so that blacksmith would be able to add runes to tools and weapons and players would be able to add a rune to their axes so that wood goes straight to inventory.
