Yeah labelling chests is a big help in a game like this where you are collecting a lot of different loot.

Upvoting - however:

The OP may not realize that chunks of the map that are not covered by a Flame Altar will reset back to default after 2 hours of no players being near them (unloaded). This is by design, so other players don't end up seeing all your terrain edits, destruction from past combat, houses/buildings with all the pots already smashed, etc.

As far as chests, you already get a 3 item preview of what is in it (pulled from the first three items top left to top right), so if you organize well, this is really better than a bunch of signs all over the place.

But, all that said, being able to place signs for shops, base names, etc. would be cool.

would also be nice if there were tiers of signs you could build different ones as you get more mats, like wood is the basic one, then metal once you get metal plates, stone once you get masonry abilities, copper/tin/iron once you get bars etc.

Maybe have a wall mount sign version and a free standing sign that adds poles to the ground when placed so its like a sign post.

I would really like this! Even though I play with friends on discord, having signs is a big quality of life. It means you can quickly get an understanding of chest system and where to find things in base without having to investigate everything. It’s also a good way to remind people to replant their crops or when not to use certain items. Finally, it’s always fun to be able to name houses and “shops”. And please let us have those pretty hanging signs that’s already in game, only customisable. 🤩

add storage organization options like wooden signs to put in front of chests or on chests and or the option for built in the front word option into magic chests so i can properly organize my stuff, Everything is everywhere, there is no way to figure out which chests have which items due to the fact i cannot properly put into words what items belong in which sections for chests.
its very hard to do storage organization without some sort of SIGN system or something for chests.

I support you, without signs you quickly forget where you keep something, in which chest, and sometimes even which house is responsible for what. I think the idea of small signs would work, for example for marking chests (the player will be able to place signs next to the chests and also use the signs to mark rooms in his castle). But large signs are intended for installation on the external part of the building and you can choose images for such signs, for example, “forge icon”, “warehouse icon”, etc. Those. Large signs, unlike small ones, can simultaneously display an icon on the left and text on the right. Whereas small icons can only show text.

- Banner type signs (high above a gate)
- Books/Journal - Write things for your team mates and leave journals in areas with notes
- Community Board - I've seen this as a graphic already, let players write in custom tasks and community notes on the board. Press E to interact and read. Good for updating communities.

It would be immensely helpful to have labels on the crates in the game. As a player with a storage facility containing more than 40 crates, it becomes challenging to keep track of the contents without proper identification. Implementing signs or labels on the crates would go a long way in addressing this issue and improve the overall organization of in-game items.

Signs should be like Campfires, placeable anywhere in the world.

This way you can make Roadsigns, with arrows to your town and other locations for awesome roleplay and server world depth.

Absolutely. Lot's of aspects of this game makes me feel the developers actually play survival/building games, then no signs of any type.

My only thought would be them wanting to keep is completly controller friendly. If this is the case then at bare minimum add signs that use the Icons that show in our backpacks. (like the item frames from Minecraft.)

While i would prefer things like chests and seedbeds to have their own built in signs, i would also like to see placeable signs, possibly with sign material progression too. First sign would be wood and need wood and charcoal to make, you get a wood sign with black letters. Maybe after you get the masons tools you can make a stone sign where the letters look carved into the sign. Once you get the blacksmith and metal plates you can make metal signs with etched looking letters. Later on when you get limestone and sandstone you can make fancier stone signs. maybe after getting the smelter you can make metal inlays on your signs. And finally maybe after you get the alchemy table you unlock the ability to turn a regular sign magical which lets the lettering glow in whatever color you want to set it to.

Would also be nice to be able to make just a sign plate you can put on a wall or a floor (it should rotate like candles do to fit the surface), and some signage posts they can attach to.

Another up vote here. I would suggest looking at Valheim's or Satisfactory's sign system for ideas. Just text would be nice, but sometimes having an icon would be better. The issue is obviously going to be performance impact as well as design/size limitations.

Being able to label chests to communication with other players of where things are stored is a must. The more players you have the harder it gets to keep things organized and to find things.

● Simple Signs
craft and place signs on walls and floors. These could just be wooden plates with the possibility to write a word with a limited amount of letters on them. Could be used as labeling.

● Store Signs
Craft and place on walls with Symbols on it. Symbols Like:
- Beer Mug for Tavern
- Anvil for Blacksmith
- Saw for Carpenter
- etc.
There should also be some Symbols like Dragon, Lion, Eagle etc.

● Notice Board
Craft and place at your Base. Possibility to leave messages on the Board for your friends. If you create a message a sheet appears on the Board. To read it you have to interact with it.

Signs for each NPC professions would be nice, so I can put the signs outside of shops.

Bathroom/Changeroom signs would be nice too for more home/shop decorating.

A few additional signs for towns, like Inn, taverns, cafes, diners...
