Add a mini Flame Altar for protecting small areas from resetting
Add a lower tier Flame that allows building only.
I get that there needs to be a limit on Flames that allow fast travel etc., but it's a bummer for servers with multiple people, that not everyone gets to build a base.
The lowest tier Flame, of which there are no limits, would allow people to be able to build in a small area.

louky MergedI think a more elegant solution to this is to ditch the idea of everyone being on the same team and having to share flames. It should be like some other games where you have to join a team instead of being on one by default.
Think like ARK's clans or Palworld's guilds. -

OpenlyAnonymous MergedI'd like for the campfires to make a little build area around them so I can make camps when I'm traveling around

Jason MergedI'd like to be able to place a flame altar purely for building only. I'd like to be able to build out random towns and things without impacting the balance of the altar limits in place in the game. :]

JonThis is exactly what I was looking for in the game as well. I really don't mind the fact that you need to place down an altar to keep things from resetting, it makes sense in the whole scheme of the game - but as a result, it makes it hard to build small little things like a stairway or a small bridge, or repairing a small house you might find and like. If a smaller or building-oriented version of a Flame Altar with a lot more you can place down, with a smaller footprint would really go miles in adding to the roleplay aspects and building up the whole world I feel. I hope this can get more traction, but it has my vote for sure!

RogerMaybe instead of using the "Altar"native just let we build things, and keep track and persist it into the world as we move in.
To keep the importance of the altars (core aspect of the game), you can introduce some limitations to what can be built while free roaming (like only allowing furniture to be placed) -

Jonathan Miller MergedNeed a mini flame alter or terrain markers. This would allow building or changing of landscape on a micro level without having to have an alter. Further more each marker could be linked together to say form a "path" per say. These would be limited to touching the ground only. Not usable on building blocks. I love building, but these game needs more reasons to build, building puzzles areas, and this game really needs shroud attacks where you have to fend them off your base.

Clever MagpieI have no expertise or really any insight to the inner workings of Enshrouded, but I would assume that the reason altars are limited is for memory/technical reasons.
The idea of a mini flame altar/campfire (my aesthetic preference being the campfire) that prevents terrain resets in a small area and allows a limited building palette would be awesome role-playing. Build a little mining camp next to a large node, have a way to get a little extra comfort on the road, very cozy core.
Current mechanics don't necessarily incentivize staying out in the bush for a long time, since you can teleport back and forth freely, I think the only issue with this idea/suggestion is that most players probably wouldn't use it unless there was a mechanical reason to! I would, but I like self-imposed role playing in my single-player games and I'm an outlier end-user for that lol.
Still, *I* would sure like it. Particularly with optional mechanical incentives to use it?
