Off-hand magic item
Add something like a focus, book or something like that to boost magic damage or mana regen that we can use instead of a shield

I understand if it’s for balance sake, but the unused offhand while you wield staffs just feels wasted to me.
Even if the other hand simply swirls the magic in the staff itself. -

Pegarex MergedCurrently, I don't believe there is a reason to not use a shield with one-handed weapons, and this was kind of a let down since there are already blocking animations for one handed weapons, and so I wanted to think of a way to play a more light-weight spellsword with one handed weapons, instead of a typical warrior architype.
I think it would be cool if there was a magic themed shield alternative that would utilize the weapons default block. Something like a "channeling glove" that would let you channel magic through the weapon. You could have it charge up an effect by attacking an enemy and then cast the spell (with a mana cost) when getting hit while blocking, with an extra potent effect if it's a parry, like a faster recharge for the next cast.
Just some examples of what these spells might look like, the spell for fire could just be a damaging fiery explosion, the ice spell could be something like freezing an enemy in place as a form of C.C, and lightning could knock back enem -

TomThere are the the magic shields which are currently just cool looking shields but usually with fire resist instead of bonus health. Making those have better incentives for mages and be usable with staves would be a decent fix.
