Have 1 type (level) of archaic essence
Please narrow the archaic essences down to one single type. When we break down weapons, we get one type of rune currency, no matter the level of the weapon.
Spending archaic essence currency on removing/inserting gemstones is fine. But having to locate, farm, and store different types of archaic essence currency depending on the level of the gem (and the gem forge being used) is unnecessarily cumbersome. Please make higher weapons/gems cost more archaic essence, not a different type of essence.

Agreed, gem forges are hard-gated by shroud level anyway, and lower level players cannot access the higher tier shrouds, there is no point to making it this way. The amount of essence dropped could just differ with higher level biomes, balancing this would be a simple mathematical task for the designer in charge. -

bjornHow come this doesn't have more upvotes? The tiered archaic essence is ridiculous. Just increase quantity requirements of the same essence for higher upgrades. Otherwise you're just stuck to playing the highest level shroud and lower level shroud areas are untouched because they have annoying to manage different tiers of essence with different forges taking different tiers. Ugh. What a mess.

IzarielI too think it is stupid to have so many different levels/types of essences, yet we can gather those many types FAR BEFORE we are ever able to use them. My
character is level 45 right now, but my flame level is 6. So right now I can literally only use the bottom two tiers of essences. However, I have at least FOUR DIFFERENT KINDS of essence at a higher level that I can literally do nothing with. Why is that? Why at level 45 can I still only use the bottom two essences?
On top of that...(this is a tangential though related topic) why is the bar to upgrading a gem level so high? Again, I am level 45 but I can't upgrade my gems past level 10! I can't USE any of my essence because there is a hard bar on being able to upgrade my gems. In game it says it is tied to "finding more gem wells", but that can't be the case because I have found SO MANY WELLS at this point, it just makes no sense at all. Untie upgrading gems to those things and just have it cost essence instead!
